The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Olympic Curling!!!!!!” and “Ugh, this again?” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of February 12, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

I don’t know if you saw last week’s list, but it was quite long because I had a lot of books to be excited about. That is not quite the case this week. That’s not to say there’s nothing to get hyped about. Certainly not with Marvel and Image launching a new series or twelve every week. So, let’s tell you about some series that are starting this week and one that’s coming to an end. Because everything old is new again on The GoD List!

Superman by John Romita Jr

In news that was announced last week on DC Comics “All Access” webseries, we learned who the next creative team would be for Superman. Starting this Summer, DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns will be handling the writing, while on art will be long-time Marvel artist John Romita Jr.. Also on the book will be inker Klaus Janson, who has collaborated with Romita Jr. many times in the past.

This will mark one of the few times Romita Jr. has not worked for Marvel over his long and storied career and it will be his first work on a book solely published by DC. He did draw a Punisher/Batman crossover, as well as one of the titles in the Amalgam crossover, both of which were done in the 1990s.

Each and every week, I, “Super Bowl Champ” Henchman21 and “Kitten Bowl Champ” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of February 5, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

I hope you all enjoyed your Super Bowl Sundays, with your pizzas, and your chicken wings, and your yelling obscenities at a screen in the hopes of getting the attention of people who can’t hear you. Of course, the best part of the game was the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which looks sweeeeeet. But enough about that, let’s talk about comics. This week’s picks are dominated by a couple of must-own hardcovers, four exciting new series from Marvel, and a few other odds and ends. So, let’s skip past the coin toss, avoid the boring post-game reactions, and run right into The GoD List!

The Sakai Project banner

Dark Horse Comics has long been the home of Stan Sakai’s classic series Usagi Yojimbo, but with Stan and his wife Sharon falling on a bit of hard times over the last few months, the publisher has made plans to give back to one of comic’s greatest creators.

Out on July 23, 2014, The Sakai Project brings together some of comics greatest creators to pay honor to Sakai. The line-up of creators is quite vast, but has to be seen to be believed.
