| Check It Out: Five Minutes Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Pilot |
Well Walking Dead fans, AMC has released an exclusive clip from the brand new series based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, which will premiere on Halloween night at 10/9c.
The clip is 5 minutes from the pilot episode and showcases the main character of Rick Grimes waking up in the hospital. I have to say this show looks good and so far, it seems like it captures the feel of the comic book. The video is embedded here below, so check it out and let us know what you think. The video shows officer Rick Grimes just waking up some time after he is shot while chasing down a criminal. Rick looks to his right and sees flowers that are all dried up, which would indicate they’ve been there a while. He struggles to get up out of bed and falls on the ground and tries calling for a nurse, but no one answers his calls. He eventually walks out of his room and down a dirty hospital hallway with thrown papers and blood spots all over the floor and walls. He tries the phone, but it doesn’t work. He looks through a window and sees a dead body on the floor that seems to be stripped of any skin and organs. The clip ends as Rick walks up to a boarded door that is chained closed, and on it are the words, “Don’t Open – Dead Inside.”

| Geek Humor: ‘Star Wars’ Parody Comic Strip ‘Blue Milk Special’ |

We here at Geeks of Doom love our sci-fi movies like Star Wars and Star Trek, but another thing we love is parodies of these movie franchises. May I introduce to you Blue Milk Special, a Star Wars comic strip parody site. Not only does this site do parodies of the events in the films, but it also spoofs all the Expanded Universe titles and characters. The featured strip for this month is the Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, which is currently up to part 12. While this site, like the site Motion Picture Comics, parodies this beloved series, it does pay tribute to it at the same time and makes us ask questions like, “How is Darth Vader able to drink coffee?” Not only does this site poke fun at mainstream characters it also brings the secondary characters to the spotlight by giving us a little insight in their lives. Readers will see that not only did Greedo go after Han Solo, but so did his cousins after his death. In another strip we see Boba Fett riding a dinosaur and someone calling him a “badass” for taming it but the punchline is that he rented it for $20 an hour.

| Marvel Sends Spider-Man, Thor, Wolverine & More Into The ‘Tron’ Universe
Tron and comic book fans can rejoice because this winter Marvel is going to the Grid with their Tron variant covers. Starting in November with Thor #617 the covers will feature characters as they would look if they were in the world of Tron. While these covers will have nothing to do with the content of the books, they are still pretty cool looking. This is one of the first signs from the Disney-Marvel partnership that started last year, the other being the two-issue mini-series Tron: Betrayal which was released earlier this month. The mini-series follows Flynn and the birth of his son Sam. It also shows CLU taking over the Grid and the bond between Tron and Flynn. We here at Geeks of Doom love these covers, and we have the cover images below for you the readers to check out and comment on.

| Geek Humor: ‘Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan’ Parody Comic Strip The good folks over at Motion Pictures Comics are at it again with another parody and this time its Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I must say that this is one of the funniest comic strips I have ever read and I love how they use the environment as one joke after another.
The series took a swipe at the Trek universe back in May 2009 with their parody of the latest Star Trek film [Read Geek Humor: ‘Star Trek’ Parody Comic Strip]. The team over at Motion Pictures Comics is one of a kind and I love their work. Every Star Trek fan should check this out and let us know what you think. It jokes about the movie, but pays tribute to it at the same time.
