Man From Space #1 is a pretty darn entertaining web comic. I have to admit, I’m usually not a big fan of web comics, but for some reason, this one really entertained me.

Writer and artist Marc Jackson takes us for a super crazy, wild space ride, and it’s every bit as fun as it can be. The story goes ALL OVER the place and sometimes you get lost, but that’s OK, because it’s all fun and it’s all good. There’s so many interesting characters introduced in this comic, yet they’re never hard to keep track of. All in all, this comic is definitely worth your time.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #192 is, just like it has been since its return to publishing in 2005, a complete and totally fun read from cover to cover.

Writer Larry Hama deals with about 4 major plot lines in this issue, switching focus about every 2-4 pages on what’s going on. You might think that there’s not enough time to devote to each character or story, but this is where Hama succeeds. He brings a couple of the stories to a definite close (well, as much as you can in comics, and leaves the others ending with some great cliffhangers. What I love so much about this series is that I can’t wait for the next issue. You just don’t get that with a lot of other comics today. This series is definitely NOT “written for the trade” and that’s what’s so unique about it and so great about Hama’s story telling.

Lady Rawhide #1 really surprised me. I’m a big fan of Zorro and his universe, but in the past, Lady Rawhide was basically the Catwoman to his Batman. That has really changed in this new incarnation from Dynamite Entertainment.

I’ve been a fan of writer Eric Trautmann for a little while. Actually, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with him. I LOVED his work on the excellent Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist miniseries. He was doing such a great job on that book, I was really hoping that it would turn into an ongoing series. Then, I didn’t really care at all for his Red Sonja issues. So, when I heard he was writing another book with a female lead, I was more than a bit skeptical. Well, I was pleasantly surprised by this issue. It wasn’t just good, it was GREAT!!!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #24 is the latest chapter in the “City Fall” storyline, and to say it’s dark and gritty would come close to being the understatement of the year!

Writers Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz turn out what is the darkest chapter in this story so far. And, believe me, that’s saying something. The Turtles are forced to team up with Old Hob to find Leonardo and I’m pretty sure they wish they hadn’t. This is the best issue of Turtles that I’ve read in quite a while. Although, if you’ve been keeping up with the series, you know what’s coming, it doesn’t make it any less surprising or shocking when it does happen. There’s a bunch of great twists and turns here, as well as a compelling subplot that you care about just as much as you do the main story. Overall, a great issue by the writing team.
