Two weeks ago the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society announced their nominations for the best of 2017. The categories and members are just as diverse as its members, which casts a reflection on today’s society. Now with awards season in full swing, the society have named the winners. Guillermo del Toro‘s The Shape of Water is the biggest winner, taking home awards for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Male Director, and Best Score. Lady Bird, Get Out, and Baby Driver are among the other notable winners of the year. You can check out all of the winners below.

The SAG Awards honor and recognize the best the performances of the year, and are often seen as an early indicator of who will win the Academy Awards for Best Actor and Actress, and Best Supporting Actor and Actress. Basically, each guild has their own awards ceremony to honor those within the industry and guild. And now that awards season is in full swing we are about to get to see more and more names being nominated for their work. Following yesterday’s Golden Globe nominees, comes the SAG nominations. And what you will see is a strange disparity between the two as The Shape of Water got shut out of the Best Ensemble, while The Big Sick got recognized for Best Supporting Actress and Best Ensemble. It’s the end of the year, and that means various critics associations will be unveiling their nominations for their favorite films, performances, scores, etc of the year. The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society is among the first to do so. Guillermo del Toro‘s The Shape Of Water has nabbed the most nominations with 11, followed by the nine earned by Greta Gerwig‘s highly acclaimed coming-of-age film Lady Bird. Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk and Jordan Peele‘s Get Out were also among the most notable titles to be nominated this year. | ‘The Disaster Artist’: Re-Create Your Favorite Scene From ‘The Room,’ Win The Tommy Award
There’s been whispers that The Disaster Artist, a movie about the making of Tommy Wiseau‘s infamous movie The Room starring James Franco as Wiseau, could be a contender for the upcoming Academy Awards. And as any fan of Wiseau’s movie will tell you, a movie about that movie winning a damn Oscar, well, that would just be magnificent. But while we wait to see if the movie will score any nominations, A24 has gone ahead and created their own award. It’s called the Tommy Award, and you (yes, you!) can win it. All you have to do is re-create your favorite scene from The Room…in public…and share it online for the world to see. So I won’t be winning a Tommy Award, and that makes me sad.
