In what has to be the biggest announcement to come out of this year’s New York Comic Con is the revelation that Clark Gregg will return as the beloved character Agent Phil Coulson in Marvel’s planned S.H.I.E.L.D. television series.

The TV show will be helmed by Avengers director Joss Whedon, along with fellow Executive Producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen Jeffery Bell, and Jeph Loeb. Few details about the show are available at this point, in fact Gregg’s casting may be the first real news we’ve heard about who will be in the show.

New York Comic-Con, the gathering of all things geek, sci-fi/fantasy, comic books, and action figures, has hit the East Coast, as the Jacob Javits Center in New York City is hosting the convention all weekend. You can see our photos of Friday night’s coverage here below.

While certainly not as big as the convention held annually in San Diego (which is generally considered the archetype mecca of geek conventions), the NYCC has its share of zealous minions who congregate in the large glass and steel edifice that is the Javits Center, milling and moiling around its carpeted floors, checking out its voluminous amount of booths filled with sci-fi/fantasy arcana, figurines, T-shirts, original and reproduced artwork, comics books dating back to the Silver Age, and the artists, writers, and creators of said minutiae. But without question, one of the coolest appeals of the entire convention has to be the scores of fanboys and fangirls, just regular Joes and Janes, decked out in costumes of their favorite superheroes, ranging from dollar store versions to authentic, mindblowing replicas of the genuine articles.

The video game deal over at Amazon today is Dead Island for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for only $25 each (that’s 58% off the list price of $59.99) and for PC for only $26.29 (that’s 47% off the list price of $49.99).

Also part of today’s deal is Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension for Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 for only $19.99 (that’s 50% off the list price of $39.99)

Note, this deal is valid only for today, Tuesday, January 24, 2012, until 11:59pm PST while supplies last.

Hill talked about the newest game, what member of Batman’s rogue gallery fans can expect this time around, and what his favorite Batman costume is.
