Massive Metal Monday: Nails “You Will Never Be One Of Us”

Nails Band Photo 2016

Trying to describe a Nails record to the uninitiated is like trying to give a blow-by-blow account of a tornado. Both tear through, leaving a trail of destruction. And before you know it, it ends just as abruptly as it began, leaving you wondering “What the fuck just happened?”

Thus is the case, once again with the Oxnard, California band’s third full length record You Will Never Be One of Us. With producer Kurt Ballou at the helm again, singer/guitarist Todd Jones and his powerviolence trio take no pause in just laying to waste everything in sight. Clocking in at under 22 minutes for the entire album, the record leaves the listener feeling brutalized and yet still wanting more. Imagine Slayer on speed and steroids at the same time!

The first single from You Will Never Be One of Us is the minute and a half long title track, which also happens to be our choice for this weeks Massive Metal Monday spotlight. Check it out here below.

Black Crown Initiate Band Photo 2016

Reading, Pennsylvania’s Black Crown Initiate is one of the most exciting and forward thinking bands in modern metal. The progressive death metal unit’s self-released 2013 EP Song of The Crippled Bull created such a buzz in the underground that it led to them signing to eOne music for their absolutely stunning 2014 debut record The Wreckage of Stars.

Now, two years later the band is set to return on July 22, 2016 with the release of their sophomore album Selves We Cannot Forgive.

The disc will be the first to feature the contributions of new guitarist Wes Hauch (ex-The Faceless) who takes over for departing axe-slinger Rik Stelzpflug. The first single from the record is the title track and it is EPIC! Check it out here below and be sure to pre-order your copy of Selves We Cannot Forgive today!

Guns. The band’s sound is a high octane amalgam of all of those influences and more.

Check out the first single and video from Chrome right here below. The track is titled “I Don’t Ride Bitch” and it is our Massive Metal Monday selection for this week.

Death Angel Band Photo

Bay area thrash legends Death Angel are set to return with their eighth studio album on May 27th, 2016. The Evil Divide is the follow up to 2013’s The Dream Calls for Blood and contains some of the heaviest material of the band’s nearly 35 year career.

The album’s lead single is entitled “Hatred United/United Hate” and is a scorching piece of classic thrash. The song kicks so much ass that I knew from my first listen that I just had to share it with you all ASAP! So, here it is, this week’s Massive Metal Monday track “Hatred United/United Hate.”

Check out the official video here below.

Anthrax Band Photo

New York’s Anthrax is considered a part of “The Big 4” of thrash metal (along with Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth) for a very good reason. They were among the very first purveyors of the genre and even if they can’t take credit for inventing it, they have certainly had a huge hand in refining the form. Through 35 years and numerous lineup changes this quintuplet has been responsible for some of the most iconic thrash songs ever recorded.

Anthrax has recently released its eleventh album via Nuclear Blast Records. The disc is titled For All Kings and it is their strongest offering in years. It is also the first Anthrax record to include the contributions of former Shadows Fall guitarist Jonathan Donais.
