Hence why we’ve resurrected our long-defunct column Bits Of Doom, now rebranded and revamped as Doom Digest, a collection of easily digestible bits of news, videos, photos, and other goodies.

In honor of Father’s Day today, we’re dedicating today’s edition of Doom Digest to all things Father’s Day.

May 25th is Towel Day!

On this great day, be sure to carry a towel around with you today in honor of the late great author Douglas Adams and his awesome book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Today’s not only a great day to carry a towel, but it’s the perfect occasion to donate one, too! For instance, if you’re in or around the Salem, MA area, Mike’s Museum is holding its second annual towel collection for the animal shelter at Front Street Coffee House. So, drop off a towel there, or to any animal shelter – they need them as much as interstellar hitchhikers do!

Today’s May 4th, a special day for Star Wars fans, as we greet each other by saying, “May the 4th be with you.” In honor of this day, there’s tons of stuff going on around the Web and also right here at Geeks Of Doom. Therefore, we’re devoting today’s Doom Digest to all things Star Wars!

Today is Record Store Day, an international observance that takes place on the third Saturday in April each year. The event is meant to put a spotlight on music, as well as independent record store owners, and each year, there’s tons of special vinyl releases.

Below is a list of all the special vinyl releases for today, from artists like Iggy Pop David Bowie, T-Rex, The Beatles, Cradle of Filth, Deep Purple, Sex Pistols, Metallica, and The Clash. (Ok, those are the artists I like, but there’s also Bruno Mars, Ryan Adams, Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, and a bunch of other bands/artists I’ve never heard of.)
