| Metallica To Release 1982 Demo Cassette Tape For Record Store Day 2015 |
No Life ’til leather, we’re gonna kick some ass tonight… So says Metallica, on “Hit The Lights,” the opening track of their 1982 demo No Life ’til Leather, which, after over three decades, is finally getting an official release for this year’s Record Store Day. The mighty Metallica will be releasing the 1982 demo No Life ’til Leather as a re-mastered limited edition cassette tape for Record Store Day this April. This offering will contain the original demo recordings for the seven songs that went on to make up the bulk of the thrash metal legends’ first album, 1983’s Kill ‘Em All, including the popular “Seek & Destroy.” The demo tracks were performed by the band’s original line-up of James Hetfield (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums); Dave Mustaine (lead guitar), who went on to form fellow Big 4 thrash band Megadeth; and Ron McGovney (bass). (For Kill ‘Em All, current guitarist Kirk Hammett replaced Mustaine, while Cliff Burton, who died in 1986, stepped in as bassist). The limited edition Record Store Day demo tape release will have a re-mastered version of the original 1982 mix, and this will be the first time the demo is being offered commercially ever. See cassette art and track listing here below (image above is of the aforementioned original line-up, but is not an official photo for the limited edition cassette release and was not included in the press release).

| Record Store Day: Bassist Mike Watt’s Top 6 Favorite Records |
Today, April 20, marks Record Store Day 2013, where special vinyl releases will be available exclusively through brick and mortar independent record stores. Many artists are involved in the promotion and celebration of the day, including Mike Watt, bassist for some amazing bands over the years like The Minutemen, Firehose, and currently Iggy and The Stooges. (There’s even a special vinyl-sized Mike Watt Tote Bag available that you can fill up with all your records.) Recently, Geeks of Doom’s Stoogeypedia had a chance to have a lengthy video Skype conversation with Watt about a plethora of topics, including his participation in Record Store Day — Watt will be performing today with The Secondmen at Fingerprints Record Store in Long Beach, CA. So, in honor of today’s celebration of vinyl, we asked Watt to reveal his Top 6 Favorite Records Of All Time (we asked for five, but apparently, he’s got six). Check out an excerpt from our conversation here below.

| Grab This Mike Watt Tote Bag In Time For Record Story Day 2013 |
In our celebration of the upcoming Record Store Day 2013 on April 20th, we found this cool little item. A tote bag. But not any tote bag mind you, this one is a Mike Watt tote bag. That’s right, the coolest of the cool bass player, who cut his teeth in legendary units like The Minutemen and Firehose, who currently plays with the latest incarnation of Iggy Pop’s Stooges, and who has spread his talents far and wide as a session man all over the musical landscape now has an accessory for women AND men alike…although some alpha males might not have the nerve to see it that way. The tote bag, which is an exclusive offering from the official Record Store Day website, is done up in simple stark white, but the kicker is the image on it, which is a facsimile of the ad Watt had posted back in the summer of 2008, when the bass pictured on it was stolen and Watt sent out this image in hopes for its return. That bass had laid down the bottom end to a sundry amount of gigs, The Stooges’ album The Weirdness, Floored by Four’s debut record, and Watt’s first solo album, the eclectic and wonderfully quirky named Ball Hog or Tug Boat. Continue below to see the full-size ad shown above.
