Actress Debbie Reynolds, mother of the late Carrie Fisher, died today after suffering a stroke, according to TMZ, who learned the news from Reynolds’ son Todd Fisher. She was 84.

TMZ reports that Todd Fisher and his mother were at his Beverly Hills home this afternoon making funeral arrangements for his sister when Reynolds fell ill and was taken to the hospital.

Reynolds’ death comes just one day after the passing of her daughter, Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, who died yesterday at 60 years old. While on a flight from London to Los Angeles on December 23, 2016, Fisher had gone into cardiac arrest and reportedly stopped breathing, and had been in the hospital ICU in the days before her death.

Star Wars Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia

Carrie Fisher, best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, died today after suffering a heart attack a few days ago on a flight from London to Los Angeles, according to THR. She was 60.

Born in Beverly Hills, CA, in 1956, the actress and writer grew up in the spotlight as the child of stars Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. While she often performed live alongside her mother, Fisher made her big-screen debut at 19 in 1975’s Shampoo starring opposite Warren Beatty. But it was her next film, 1977’s Star War: A New Hope, George Lucas’s unexpected mega-hit scifi adventure that spawned one of the biggest franchises of all time, that led her to become a household name and a role model to little girls — and women — everywhere.

‘Growing Pains’ Dad Alan Thicke Dies At 69

Alan Thicke

One of the all-time great TV dads, Alan Thicke, has died at the age of 69. Thicke, a massive hockey fan who often played in charity games with legends of the sport and other celebrities, was reportedly playing hockey with his son when he suffered a heart attack and was taken to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center where he later passed away.

Thicke is best known for playing Dr. Jason Seaver on the hit ABC sitcom Growing Pains. The show ran for 167 episodes from 1985 to 1992, and also starred Joanna Kearns as Thicke’s character’s wife, and Kirk Cameron, Tracey Gold, and Jeremy Miller as the character’s children, with Ashley Johnson playing the suddenly much older youngest child for the last couple of seasons. A homeless teenager (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) was brought into the family during the show’s final season.

Greg Lake of ELP

Greg Lake, co-founder of two prog rock giants — King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer — died yesterday after a lengthy battle with cancer, according to his manager. He was 69.

Lake’s manager Stewart Young posted to Lake’s official Facebook page today that the musician passed away on December 7, 2016 after “a long and stubborn battle with cancer.” The news comes just nine months after the death of Lake’s former ELP bandmate Keith Emerson.

Peter Vaughan Dies At Age 93; Played Maester Aemon On ‘Game Of Thrones’

Peter Vaughan as Maester Aemon on Game of Thrones

Longtime actor Peter Vaughan has died at the age of 93. His agent released a brief statement confirming the actor’s death, adding that he “died peacefully with his family around him.”

Vaughan was born in 1923, and his acting career began way back in the mid-1950s. At the time of his passing he had over 220 credits to his name, but he’s perhaps best known today for his 11-episode stint on the HBO series Game of Thrones. Vaughan played the elderly member of the Night’s Watch who offered wise words to characters like Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly, Maester Aemon Targaryen, great uncle to Daenerys Targaryen and great-great uncle, as fans recently discovered, to another popular character.
