Scientist, Entrepreneur, and Pioneering Sound Engineer Ray Dolby Is Dead

Remembering Ray Dolby 1933-2013

Dr. Ray Dolby, founder and guiding force behind Dolby Laboratories from 1965 to 2009, died on Thursday at his home in San Francisco, CA, according to an announcement by the company. He was 80.

The exact circumstances of Dolby’s death were not included in the announcement, but he lived with Alzheimer’s disease for several years and was diagnosed with acute Leukemia in July of this year. During those 80 years of life, he amassed a fortune of approximately $2.9 billion dollars, was awarded more than 50 U.S. Patents, and fundamentally changed how we watch and listen to media in the modern world.

Walt's Confession From Breaking Bad Episode 5.11 Confessions

During last night’s episode of Breaking Bad, titled “Confessions,” Hank and Marie go to meet Walt and Skylar at a restaurant to discuss some recent revelations. When it appears that Hank will not back down from his accusations about Walt being the drug kingpin Heisenberg, Walt goes with what he feels is his only option: He records a video confession and gives it to Hank. What happens next is a real shock to Hank and Marie.

AMC has released a video of this most talked about scene from “Confessions,” which includes the entire confession scene. Watch it here below, along with two behind-the-scenes featurettes from the episode.
