Ellen DeGeneres, star of Finding Nemo, it’s upcoming sequel Finding Dory, and host of her own daytime talk show, has been chosen to host the 86th annual Academy Awards ceremony on March 2, 2014.

This will be the second time that DeGeneres has hosted the Oscars, the first being back in 2007. She has also hosted both the Emmys and the Grammys a number of times.

A long, long time ago in the year 1976 A.D., far before the internet and video blogging and Skype and Tout and Vine, a young gentleman named Steven Spielberg documented himself and some acquaintances (one of whom is The Godfather and Rocky actor Joe Spinell) watching the 48th annual Academy Awards nominations being announced.

See Spielberg had made a little film called JAWS in 1975, and the movie was up for a potential 11 nominations. You might think that a young up-and-comer such as he was would be overcome with excitement just to get one Oscar nomination, but, as we would all come to learn, this man is a different kind of animal than other directors. The video begins with Spielberg stating quite confidently that they expect the movie to score a clean sweep in all 11 categories, but things don’t quite go as planned.

Today on the Show: We’ll discuss John Moore‘s latest film, A Good Day to Die Hard, and boot-up the Geek-O-Matic TeleFax for all the latest news on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fantastic Four, and recap the 85th Annual Academy Awards.

For our third segment, we’ll play The Synonym Game: Best Picture Edition to appease The Mighty Tu’Challa‘s craving for man flesh. Also, Tu’Challa has his own WWE-style entrance music now – which is both awesome and terrifying. We’ll also announce the winner of a free digital copy of Sinister and the winner of Satan’s Star Wars Spin-Offs.

It’s the morning after the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Right now, as you read this, there are entire hordes of producers, writers, editors, directors, and actors stumbling through the streets of Los Angeles in last night’s formal wear. With their designer sunglasses on, they shuffle their feet like the Hollywood undead, Oscar in one hand, aspirin in the other.

Seth MacFarlane did a fine job of hosting the Oscars and I have a feeling we’ll see him hosting again in the future – though it would be great to see Amy Poehler and Tina Fey take the reins next year (William Shatner‘s right, they should just host everything).

As far as the results, I was quite pleased with most of the Academy’s choices. As for my Predictions, I did pretty well, accurately predicting 20 of the 24 categories. So I figured as part of this wrap-up, I’d talk about some of the picks I got wrong.

If you skipped the show, the only thing you should seek out and watch would be a one Mr. William Shatner jumping back into his Captain Kirk gear and taking a seat in the captain’s chair to help host Seth MacFarlane get some better reviews.
