Adam WarRock's "XXXTra Crispy"

Eugene Ahn is Adam WarRock. He is a big man with an even bigger heart and a bag of rhymes about comics, movies, video games, and tons of other geek/pop-culture loves. We’re now three years into Adam WarRock dropping his day job as a lawyer and making music on the Internet full-time. To celebrate this momentous milestone the Adam WarRock Donation Drive 2013 is running from June 24 to July 3. Click here for the First Half Wrap Up and donation links.

Since 2010 Adam WarRock has been releasing indie/pop-culture hip hop into the wilds of the Internet mostly for free. This donation drive is a chance for fans to give back. Donations of any amount qualifies donors to receive a new mixtape album, a live video concert, and a digital comics package from some of the best creators in the comics industry.

Adam WarRock: You Dare Call That Thing Human?!? Art by Mitch GeradsYou Dare Call That Thing Human?!?

Release Date: February 13, 2012

Adam WarRock continues to perfect his unique sound as You Dare Call That Thing Human?!? shows the artist’s growth from comic book-themed rapper to serious emcee with a comic book twist.

Adam WarRock, otherwise known as Eugene Ahn, has grown considerably over the past few years and that is most evident with his latest album. Starting off with 2010’s The War For Infinity, the self-proclaimed “Internet’s Foremost Comic Book Rapper” showed hip hop fans a brand new sound that blended the east coast style of acts like The Wu-Tang Clan with the nerdcore sound of acts like MC Lars, while also telling a story centered around Marvel Comics’ event comic The Infinity Gauntlet. While WarRock has not abandoned this style at all, Ahn seems to have completely found his voice with You Dare Call That Thing Human?!?

The Man This EmceeOn Tuesday, May 17th, “The Internet’s foremost comic book rapper” Adam WarRock will release his highly anticipated follow-up EP, This Man… This Emcee!, to the critically acclaimed debut album The War For Infinity. The album features production from Dale Chase, and includes nerdcore guests Dual Core and Beefy. The upcoming album features the Free Comic Book Day single, “Marvel vs. DC,” which is easily one of my favorite showings from the up and coming geek-influenced emcee.

If the idea of music about comics seems cool to you, then Adam WarRock is your man. I’ve been a fan of his since I heard the original War Rocket Ajax theme song a couple of years ago, and he’s only gotten better. Adam WarRock continues to grow as an artist with each release, and after hearing “Marvel vs. DC,” it seems that this EP will be no exception, so needless to say, I’m ecstatic over this news.

The War For Infinity
Silver Age Records & Marketless Music
Release Date: October 7, 2010

Eugene Ahn, comic book fan and podcast host, has created a hip-hop alter ego named Adam WarRock. On WarRock’s debut album, The War For Infinity, listeners are treated to an “event” comic book story in musical form.

On the first track, “I Am Him,” we are learn the origin story of Adam WarRock. Adam WarRock created a perfect society with his mic, but is shunned by the very people that he was seeking to save. He creates a gauntlet that stores his power and ascends into the clouds and sleeps until he is needed again. That day inevitably arrives, and Adam WarRock awakes again.

WarRock’s saga continues throughout the course of the album, and eventually he meets Demonos on the track “Battle (Intro)”. Demonos and WarRock meet in an arena, complete with cheesy announcer. WarRock also informs Demonos of his power with lines like “Ya’ll must be crazy, thinking you can mess with Adam, man/Thinking I’m a goody two shoes like my name was Adam Ant.” The lyrical and heroic battle continues over the course of the album, especially on the track “Heroes Requiem,” where Demonos vanquishes several well-known super heroes. WarRock and Demonos have their final showdown on the song “Battle (Finale)” and it is an epic contest.
