| Alien Day To Include Ripley’s Alien Stomper Sneakers, Theatrical Screenings, Much More
Another movie inspired semi-holiday is set to arrive next month, joining others such as Back to the Future Day on October 21, 2015 and of course Star Wars Day on May the 4th. This time it’s the Alien franchise getting its own special day in Alien Day, which will be celebrated on April 26th. The date chosen is a reference to LV-426, the moon that where the Xenomorph species is encountered. But they’re not just picking a day, attaching the word alien to it, and leaving it at that. Many great things are on the way to helps fans celebrate the franchise, including the release of Ripley’s (Sigourney Weaver) Alien Stomper sneakers from Aliens, nationwide screenings of an Alien and Aliens double feature, and so much more. | ‘Eastbound & Down’ Star Danny McBride In Talks For ‘Alien: Covenant’
Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston are currently the only actors confirmed to be in the cast of Ridley Scott‘s next Alien movie Alien: Covenant, the follow-up to Prometheus. The film is still rounding out the cast, but the latest news may prove to be a surprising one. | Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien: Covenant’ Is The Start Of A New Trilogy
Ridley Scott has changed the Prometheus sequel in the past few months since he’s gone on the press tour for The Martian. The film has gone through a couple of title changes and has even bumped Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 film into an indefinite hold – though some close to the film believe that it will still be made. But while at a press conference in Australia, Scott talked a little bit about his upcoming Alien film, which he says is the start of a brand new trilogy, which pretty much confirms that Blomkamp’s Alien 5 will not be happening any time soon, if at all. | Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Alien’ Sequel Refuses To Die, Even After He’s Moved On
So we all know that Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant pretty much forced Neill Blomkamp‘s Alien to be put on hold indefinitely. That rumor was going on for a while even before it got confirmed. Though it was still early at the time, Sigourney Weaver said that Blomkamp’s Alien would be a genetic sibling to the first two Alien films, and the District 9 director confirmed that it would be connected to the first two, then try to establish that bridge between Aliens and Alien 3. Weaver said she wanted to “take Ripley out of sort of orbiting around in space and give a proper finish to what was such an excellent story.” Now, new details are emerging on how that would have happened. In an interview, Michael Biehn, who played Corporal Dwayne Hicks in James Cameron’s Aliens, talked about Blomkamp’s vision, which would have reunited him with Ripley and an older Newt.
