Most of us have heard, “May the fourth be with you” at least once today. That’s right: it’s Star Wars Day! And what better way to celebrate than to take a trip down memory lane? Check out here below these photos of the original cast members of the original Star Wars trilogy, from then and now.

After the one announcement that Girls star Adam Driver would be one of the new faces of Star Wars: Episode VII, we all expected that official casting announcements would start coming piece by piece soon. This is not the case.

Instead, it has been decided to announce the ENTIRE cast in one fell swoop so you can all decide right away if you approve or dislike the choices that were made.

It’s most certainly an interesting cast with a nice mix of new and old, and you can see every name as well as an image of the cast reading the script together below.

I have many geek addictions, but the two that dominate all of my obsessions are Star Wars and Doctor Who. Naturally, if anyone could mash them both together, I’d be pretty excited. And somebody has.

Well, it’s a parody mashup — but overall, the video below is a fun little exercise of weaving Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, and Matt Smith into the Star Wars saga. The mashup was directed and edited by Rick Kelvington.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced today the upcoming release of the 1978 animated adventure The Lord of the Rings
on 2-disc Deluxe Edition DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack.

Both DVD and Blu-ray versions are Special Editions with new box art (click image at right for larger full version) and packaging, as well as remastered Dolby Surround 5.1 audio, and contain an all-new bonus featurette Forging Through The Darkness: The Ralph Bakshi Vision for Lord of the Rings. This will mark the film’s first time on Blu-ray, which will include a digital copy.

Both versions are scheduled for release on April 6, the same day that Peter Jackson’s award-winning live-action Lord of the Rings trilogy comes out on Blu-ray. You can watch the trailer for the upcoming animated release here below.

Ralph Bakshi‘s Lord of the Rings actually tells the first half of the J.R.R. Tolkien tale, which is then continued in the animated follow-up Return of the King.
