Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Comparison

Recently we saw a side-by-side comparison of Battlefield 4 running on the next generation of video game consoles, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. But you may also be interested in seeing a comparison between the current generation and the next generation consoles as well.

Now, obviously when progressing to a new console, developers of the bigger franchises are going to have to start slow and make games that will work with the current systems as people slowly make the switch, but still…it’s interesting to see what differences exist right from the start.

In this video from Rev3, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is looked at running on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 4. Continue below to see the differences.

Assassin's Creed Hidden Blade

If you’re the kind of person who’s really into replicas of weapons from your favorite video games, movies, and so on, then Man At Arms is the dude you want as a best friend. I am one of these people, though Man At Arms is not my BFF. Least I don’t think he is…someone should probably ask him. I may have gone all Goldie Hawn in Overboard.

Man At Arms has been making weapons for decades, usually for big Hollywood blockbusters like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. But lately he’s taken to YouTube to craft video game weapons requested by fans. Not too long ago we saw his intimidating Orcish battleaxe from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (click over for links to many others he’s also done), and now it’s Assassin’s Creed‘s turn.

This time around the blacksmith is taking on something a little trickier than usual, the iconic retractable blades wielded by assassins throughout the franchise. Also, as an added bonus, he’s also using his Pirates experience to make a shiny, deadly cutlass from the next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. And as always, both weapons will be tested at the end of the video.

You can check out the video below.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Next-Gen

Ubisoft has not been stingy when it comes to sharing footage and trailers for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and there’s nothing wrong with that if you’re a fan of the series.

In this latest video the focus is on the smaller, more technical things you can look for when playing the game for the first time on a next-gen console, such as water and foliage, lighting, and dynamic weather system. And this of course is the earliest of next-gen capabilities, as it was also designed for current consoles, so it should be exciting to see where things go from here.

You can get a closer look at the next-gen technology used in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag below.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Image

Another very promising gameplay demo has been released for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (you can see the first demo right here, and an excellent 13-minute demo right here), this one focusing on stealth gameplay.

The stealth demo show multiple scenarios where you might prefer remaining unseen, a shadow in the darkness. One thing worth watching for is a cool new addition to the franchise: underwater caverns. For these, you’ll use a diving bell—an actual device used back in the day—to go deep underwater and access the cavern. As you’ll see in the demo, it’s not just swimming and slightly submerging yourself anymore; there’s a lot of things under the surface, including sharks, and you’ll have to navigate and deal with these things to get to these caverns.

Continue on below now to check out the new stealth gameplay demo for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
