The digital rental deal of the day over at Amazon today is the Edgar Wright-produced alien invasion movie Attack The Block for only $.99.

This deal is valid only for today, Wednesday, November 23, 2011, until 11:59 PST. Once you activate the rental through Amazon’s Instant Demand service, you’ll have access to the movie for 24 hours. If you’re interested in purchasing the digital version, the cost is $12.99.

Also, if you’d like to own a physical copy of Attack The Block, the Blu-ray is $23.99 and the DVD is $19.99.

The panel for Attack the Block on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 began with the Red Band trailer, linked below. The moderator then brought out director Joe Cornish, producer Edgar Wright, and lead actor John Boyega.

Cornish and Wright met in a DVD store, and ever since they’ve written together, including Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Tintin film.

Cornish was inspired by ’80s creature features like E.T., Aliens, and Gremlins, but wanted to set his film in a neighborhood he was familiar with, namely South London.
