Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice‘s disappointing second week drop and negative reviews, along with the mixed general audience, is having a ripple effect over at Warner Bros. Studios. The sequel grossed a meager $51 million, a 69% drop from its opening weekend of $166 million. With those kind of numbers, and a slew of other tentpoles that are getting more positive word of mouth, it is highly unlikely that BvS will even reach the $1 billion mark.

The poor performance will now have WB mulling over a decision to release fewer films in a given year. More on the story below.

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor In Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Justice League

Justice League: Part One will start production in just a few short weeks, and the film seems to be set on the idea that the villain will be Darkseid. This would be the first time that Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman, and possibly Green Lantern will all be together on screen. The film recently added J.K. Simmons to play Commissioner James Gordon, but there is no word yet if Jena Malone will return to reprise her role as Barbara Gordon – her role was ultimately cut from the theatrical version of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and saved for the Ultimate Edition cut. However, it appears that one person who will not be returning is one of Superman’s greatest villains.

Jesse Eisenberg who played Lex Luthor in BvS has made a few comments about his supervillain role and his future in the DCEU. More on the story below.

The Flash Season 2 header

Turns out Batman v Superman was just the beginning of the DC universe’s superhero brawling. While Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill kept their battle confined to the big screen, several other actors associated with the famed comic brand got bloody and bruised today. At an early screening in Hollywood for the blockbuster hit, critics were shocked to witness a melee between TV’s Flash Grant Gustin and DCU Flash-to-be Ezra Miller.

NYCC 2015: Kevin Smith

The critics and audience have spoken, and while the former didn’t like it as much as the latter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the number one film at the box office. This wouldn’t be the first time that there was a huge disparity between audiences and critics, and it won’t be the last. You’ve already seen our review of the film. And now celebrities are voicing their opinions on it. But one of them may come as a huge surprise.

Following his hosting duties on the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, Kevin Smith has expressed some of his disappointment in BvS, saying that it lacked joy and that there is a “fundamental lack of understanding of what those characters are about.” See what else he had to say below.

Batman v Superman Jesse Eisenberg Lex Luthor

As big a film as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is, there is bound to be a plethora of deleted scenes that didn’t make the cut. Whether or not these scenes could have helped with the missing context and plot points remains to be seen. Still, the fans have spoken, and it is the number one film at the box office, proving that it is indeed critic-proof. Fans are just itching to see what the deleted scenes are when the Ultimate Edition is released later this year. And now WB has already started their marketing campaign for the Ultimate Edition by releasing a scene that never made it into the theatrical cut.

Warning, it does dive into spoiler territory, so if you haven’t seen the film yet, then I suggest you turn back now.

This will be your final warning.
