Release Date: December 12, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99 Hidden in Ghostbusters #16 is a honest to God, heartwarming romantic story. No, seriously. C’mon, I’m not joking!!! And can I just say that’s it a nice treat to have a Christmas issue of a comic? Because, it is. This month, Erik Burnham gives us an issue spotlighting Winston. We don’t get enough Winston. So, while this isn’t a SOLO tale by ANY means, it’s a nice issue that totally revolves around him. Don’t worry, he still gives us the patented Erik Burnham “meanwhile, he’s some things that are going to cause trouble down the line” moments. Back to this issue, though, it revolves around Winston and his girlfriend, a ghost from Winston’s past, and him being trapped alone in a creepy old house. For the first time that I can recall, we get some inner monologue, which is really nice and very entertaining. This issue also sets up some VERY cool stuff, that I can’t even imagine what it’s leading up to or how it’s going to pan out, but I’m really excited to see where this all goes. All in all, a really nice, charming and funny issue.

Danger Girl: Revolver #3
Written by Andy Hartnell
Art by Chris Madden
Colors by Jeremy Cox
Letters by Neil Uyetake
Covers by J. Scott Campbell & Chris Madden
IDW Publishing
Release Date: April 4, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99 Danger Girl Revolver #3 is just what you’ve missed about Danger Girl comics. Hopefully now that they’re back at IDW we can look forward to more minis or maybe even an ongoing. This franchise is too much fun to let lay for too long. Series co-creator Andy Hartnell tells a classic Danger Girl story here, actually it’s more than your typical Danger Girl story as he uses this issue (and series) to delve into the personal lives of the team, which we haven’t seen before. Also, there’s TONS of action, intrigue, and a nice ongoing mystery. This issue is a goldmine for fans of the franchise, because Hartnall crams this issue with tons of past Danger Girl character cameos, which is a real treat for long time fans. My only complaint would be that it’s a quick read, but that’s due to pacing, and not lack of story.

Written by Andy Hartnell
Art by Chris Madden
Colors by Jeromy Cox
IDW Publishing
Release Date: January 18, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99 Andy Hartnell brings the girls back in Danger Girl: Revolver #1. Like most comics in the action-spy genre this issue paid homage to the movies, comics, and novels that have defined the spy franchise. Instead of the sleek, classy, and cool agent, Hartnell re-introduces readers to his impossibly proportioned heroines. Danger Girl: Revolver #1 is an introduction to this genre done right. With dynamic art and choreography, this issue introduces a brand new Danger Girl storyline lacking any dull moments. From the second this issue started it demanded the reader’s attention.

Release Date: November 30th, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99 I’m sure you’re tired of my always positive reviews of this title. I’m sorry, but they’re gonna keep going. Jack Avarice Is The Courier #5 is probably the best issue of the series! More and more of what is great about this series — action, adventure, laughs, and mystery. This issue is a perfect conclusion to this series. Chris Madden, who handles writing and art duties, knows exactly where he’s going in this title and it shows. It’s another well written issue, with barely a panel in the whole book that lets you catch your breath before moving on to the next cliffhanging panel. Madden has really got the characters down, and in just five short issues, they’ve all ready got a life of their own. Great, great writing here from Chris Madden.

Cover Price: $3.99 You’re gonna have to look long and hard to find a comic book as fun as this one. I’ve loved the series over all, and Jack Avarice Is The Courier #4 is no exception. It’s got the same thing that the previous three issues had — great art, a fun story, and it’s also got a lot of heart. Writer Chris Madden delivers big again in this issue. I really can’t say enough about this book, folks. If you’re not reading it, you’re really missing out. There are a lot of fun Easter eggs in this (and every) issue of the series so far. What I like most about this book is that it doesn’t take itself seriously at all. Madden sets out to tell an entertaining story, and that what he does. It’s a fun, page-turning, can’t wait for the next issue book that will have you on the edge of your seat.
