Alan Rickman

Alan Rickman, the beloved British actor whose influence has spanned generations, passed away today after a battle with cancer. The 69-year-old actor was best known to recent generations as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series, but also had notable roles in Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and in the cult favorite Galaxy Quest.

Fans of the Harry Potter series take the news of Rickman’s passing as a particular blow considering Snape’s tragic story of lost love and his heroic death. Alan Rickman

It’s being reported that Alan Rickman, star of movies like Die Hard, the Harry Potter franchise, and so much more, has passed away at the age of 69 after a battle with cancer. The actor’s passing was confirmed by his family, who said Rickman died in London while surrounded by his loved ones.

Rickman was best known for his film roles, including the villainous Hans Gruber in the original Die Hard and Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movie franchise. He also starred in Truly Madly Deeply, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Sense and Sensibility, Michael Collins, Dogma, Galaxy Quest, Love Actually, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Perfume: The Story of a Murder, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Bottle Shock, Alice in Wonderland, Lee Daniel’s The Butler, and most recently A Little Chaos, which he also directed (his second directorial effort after 1997’s The Winter Guest), and Eye in the Sky. He also completed work voicing the Blue Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Whenever a conversation arises about “best movie ever,” there is usually a massive debate. You get your Citizen Kane fans, your Godfather followers, and some usual suspects who prefer Casablanca. But when the discussion narrows to “best action movie ever” there is usually little debate. The overwhelming favorite is… Die Hard. But more than that, it may also be the best Christmas movie of all time! And it’s within this context that my personal choice for Greatest Action Movie Ever, gets the final Honest Trailer of 2015.

Die Hard

It was inevitable. A sixth Die Hard has officially entered the development stage over at 20th Century Fox. Bruce Willis will be returning for another go-around as heroic New York cop John McClane, an ordinary guy who always finds himself embroiled in extraordinary situations that usually involve a high body count and billions of dollars in property damage.

Len Wiseman, who directed 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, is in negotiations with the studio to return to the franchise. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will serve as producer.

Rick Ducommun

Actor, writer, and stand-up comic Rick Ducommun, best known for his hilarious performances in such classics of cinematic comedy as The ‘Burbs and Groundhog Day, has passed away. He was 58.

Born on July 3, 1956 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Ducommun began his acting career on the short-lived Canadian children’s television program Zig Zag. After a series of bit parts in various films and TV shows, he co-starred with future Oscar-winning superstar Tom Hanks in the cult classic dark comedy The ‘Burbs as a paranoid suburbanite who suspects that the new family in their neighborhood are a gang of Satan-worshiping psychopaths.
