| D23 Expo 2015: ‘The Jungle Book’: A Live Twist On An Animated Classic |
 |

Disney’s recent turn to modernize their animated classics by giving them a live-action adaptation has been a successful product thus far. With Maleficent and Cinderella already proving to be box office hits, the studio shows no signs of slowing down, by releasing more of these adaptations. Perhaps the most interesting of all the adaptations would be The Jungle Book. Now, it’s not interesting in a perplexing manner, but in how they approached the production of the film. The adaptation combines live-action and CGI to form a beautiful story, based on the animated film and Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel. During the film’s presentation at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA, today, director Jon Favreau talked about the production of The Jungle Book, with his cast Ben Kingsley, who voices Bagheera; Lupita Nyong’O, who voices the protective mother wolf Raksha; and newcomer Neel Sethi, who plays the human lead Mowgli. More on the production of the film as well as description of the footage here below.

| D23 Expo 2015: Colin Trevorrow To Direct ‘Star Wars Episode IX’
During Comic-Con in July, there was a report that Star Wars: Episode IX was to be directed by Colin Trevorrow. But now we can confirm that Trevorrow is indeed directing Star Wars: Episode IX. The announcement was made at the D23 Expo earlier today. While Trevorrow wasn’t able to make an appearance to talk about the project itself — heck Rian Johnson is still writing Episode VIII as we speak — the Jurassic World director was able to share some of this thoughts about taking on such an iconic franchise. Check out what he had to say below.

| D23 Expo 2015: ‘Gigantic’ Confirms ‘Frozen’ Songwriting Duo
At D23 Expo 2015 yesterday, as the presentations continued to roll out, John Lasseter excitedly talked about Disney Animation Studios’ next project, a retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk. To put a twist on the fairy tale classic, Lasseter revealed that the film wouldn’t be set in a fairy tale land, but rather it would take place in Spain during the early “Age of Exploration,” a seemingly fitting setting for a film about exploring areas unknown/unexplored. Like the recent Disney fairy tale films, this one wouldn’t be called Jack and the Beanstalk, instead it would be called Gigantic. It was also confirmed that Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the music team that brought us the Academy Award Winning Frozen, would also write new songs for the film. More on the story below.
