Billy Dee Williams is coming back in the Star Wars universe!

The actor will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in the latest episode of Disney XD’s animated series Star Wars Rebels. In the episode “Idiot’s Array,” Zeb loses the droid Chopper to a younger-looking Lando (Star Wars Rebels is a prequel) in a card game, so the crew of the Ghost make a dangerous run for the space pirate in exchange for getting the droid back.

Since Disney acquired the rights to Marvel back in 2009, the studio has unlimited access to a large backlog of untapped properties. One of those properties is Guardians of the Galaxy, which eventually became one of the highest grossing films of the year. Guardians of the Galaxy was already pegged as one of Disney and Marvel’s riskiest gambles ever since it was announced. But seeing as it has become a box office smash, Disney will of course ride that wave for as long as they can.

Since their popularity has grown, the studio announced today that they would be releasing an animated TV series. Much of what we have seen has come in the form of promotional images, but now we are getting our first look at actual footage. Hit the jump to check it out.

Star Wars Rebels‘ popularity is really starting to show. Disney has just announced that they will re-air the Star Wars Rebels: Spark of the Rebellion TV movie, which is essentially just the series’ first two episodes, on ABC on October 25th at 7PM ET/PT. If you have already seen the film, then you might not have the urge to see it. But Disney will be adding a Darth Vader cameo to Spark, and he will be voiced by none other than James Earl Jones.

The official Star Wars Rebels series premieres on Disney XD Mondays starting October 13th.

Just one day before the Star Wars Rebels TV Movie premieres on Disney XD, the channel announced that the new animated series will be getting a second season. Judging by the massive press tour the cast and crew have been doing, the pilot premiere over at Comic-Con, and the special preview which aired this week exclusively on WATCH Disney XD and other digital platforms. The overall consensus is great, and that it reminds us of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Disney Channels Worldwide President and Chief Creative Officer Gary Marsh made the second season order announcement earlier today.

The series is set five years before the events of Episode IV, years after the fall of the Jedi Order, and will center on a group of bandits who will help spark the revolution against the Galactic Empire.

Four years ago when Sony Pictures announced that its Spider-Man movie franchise would be rebooted following the exit of director Sam Raimi from the stalled development of a fourth feature starring Marvel Comics’ iconic wall-crawling superhero, actor, writer, and the rap star known as Childish Gambino, Donald Glover, threw his hat into the casting ring. The idea of the Community star assuming the role vacated by Tobey Maguire started out as the suggestion of a fan and eventually grew into a full-blown social media campaign with the hashtag “#donald4spiderman.” As far as we know, Glover didn’t even get an audition, and the role ultimately went to Andrew Garfield.

But now it looks as if Glover, who departed Community in the middle of its fifth season but has hinted at possibly returning to the show when it launches on Yahoo! later this year or next, will finally get his chance to play Spider-Man in an upcoming episode of the Disney XD animated series Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors.
