
When DC Comics launched what they called “the New 52” back in 2011, their plan was to publish 52 ongoing series on a monthly basis, while tightening up their shared universe and updating it for modern readers. The plan largely worked at first, at least in terms of getting readers back and excited to read DC comics.
Today, DC has altered that plan, announcing that they will be reducing their number of releases to 49, with 24 new or rebranded titles on the way that will be replacing some of their current ones, while keeping 25 existing series. There will also be some changes to creative teams on some of these books.
