Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Series (Seasons 1-7) The TV deal of the week over at Amazon this week is Buffy the Vampire Slayer – The Complete Series DVD for only $70.99 (that’s 65% off the list price of $199.99).

Note, this deal is valid through Saturday, October 23, 2010 while supplies last.

This DVD box set contains all 7 seasons of the popular Joss Whedon television series which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular vampire slayer along with Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Stewart Head, and Nicholas Brendon. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which ran from 1997 to 2003, also co-starred Eliza Dushku, Seth Green, James Marsters, and many more, as well as introduced the character of Angel (David Boreanaz), who eventually got his own spin-off show.

Math time: at $70.99, you’d be paying only $10.14 per season! That’s a steal, considering the box set is worth getting even at the original price.

Open GravesOpen Graves
DVD
Directed by Álvaro de Armiñán
Starring Eliza Dushku, Mike Vogel, Ethan Raines, Gary Piquer
Lionsgate Home Entertainment
Release date: February 23, 2010

After a storm washes off a beach party, a group of friends retreat indoors to play a board game with a mysterious past. Those brave enough to play just might be putting their lives at risk; those who lose definitely are. Roll the dice.

Erica (Eliza Dushku) is trying to “˜find herself’ by surfing and living in a cool lighthouse in Spain where she meets glamour photographer Tomas (Ethan Raines) and “˜bum’ Jason (Mike Vogel). Much to Jason’s delight, Erica comes to the party and she joins them to play Mamba. The party soon takes a tragic turn when one of their friends is killed on his way to town and the circumstances of his death sound just like the game promised. Erica and Mike must find a way to stop the game’s curse and keep it from the clutches of Detective Izar.

Open Graves was written by the father/son team of Bruce A. Taylor and Roderick Taylor, whose most recent screen work was the Jodie Foster-starring The Brave One, directed by the excellent Neil Jordan. First-time director Álvaro de Armiñán has set and filmed much of the movie on location in Spain having picked some gorgeous locations, lots of old decrepit buildings, and in that respect it looks like a European horror movie which added to the overall eerie feel.

Joss Whedon & Eliza Dushku

It looks as if Dollhouse fans won’t have to wait too long after the show was canceled to see the team behind their favorite show getting back together for some more fun. According to star Eliza Dushku, she and writer/creator Joss Whedon will be re-teaming soon for a feature film.

Dushku was asked by Hollywood Life about her rumored part in Ghostbusters 3, which she denied as false (so far) a long time ago on her Twitter account, but is still listed on IMDB for some reason. The conversation then moved on to what was next for the actress, which lead to her reveal of another possible collaboration with Whedon.

Dollhouse

From the very moment that Joss Whedon‘s latest show, Dollhouse, debuted on Fox, people wondered how long it would be before the show was canceled. This is the crystal example of expectations when it comes to fan-favorite shows on the network, and it is really quite unfortunate. However, to many shocked eyes, the show beamed through its freshman season, gaining a solid core of fans along the way; and even more surprisingly, was able to acquire its very own second season order.

Sadly, on this day, the news is much more grim. It has been confirmed that Twentieth Century Fox has officially canceled Dollhouse, cutting off its head at around the half-way mark of its sophomore effort. This will surely infuriate the show’s many fans, especially if those fans were also lovers of Dollhouse‘s older brother, Firefly, which wasn’t even able to finish one season before the axe was dropped. Fox still hears an undying plea from the fans to bring back that show, even five years later…so expect fans of Dollhouse to fight the same fight.
