The Star and Producer Of ‘Eureka’ Talk Final Season and the Future
|
 |

One of the Syfy Channel’s most beloved shows, Eureka is began its final season on April the 16th. Leading up to the series premiere the network offered a group of journalists the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with the series creator Jamie Paglia and star Colin Ferguson. Of course, the event began with the most basic of questions: What’s coming up on the show? Though not wanting to spoil anything, Paglia does share that some story elements that were obviously meant to be a larger part of the show’s mythos are being brought to completion in this season, with Beverly Barlow and the Consortium being a specific example.
Eureka premiered as a unique series in the genre. At the time the show started Battlestar Galactica was a big success and Stargate was also still successful. These were shows with spaceships and aliens, the parts that make up the space opera puzzle. Eureka had none of that, plus it had comedy. After the success of Eureka, the possibility of other similar leaps into this sort of grounded sci-fi with comedy seemed possible. Thus Warehouse 13 was born a show this is extremely successful for the Syfy Channel. So it’s an easy assumption to make that the show had some influence of the genre as a while.

Dragon*Con 2011 Video: ‘Eureka’ Star Colin Ferguson To Direct Syfy Original Movies
|

Colin Ferguson, who plays Sheriff Jack Carter on sci-fi TV show Eureka, will direct at least one future Syfy Channel original movie, the actor announced during a panel Sunday at Dragon*Con 2011.
In the past, fans have often ridiculed Syfy’s made-for-TV movies, which feature hokey stories and awful dialog — especially when compared to the network’s original TV shows like Eureka.
Like the good sport he is, Ferguson also poked fun at past Syfy original movies along with the other fellow cast members on the panel, which included Wil Wheaton (Dr. Isaac Parrish), Jordan Hinson (Zoe Carter), and Chris Gauthier (Vincent) as well as the show’s science consultant Kevin Robert Grazier.
Ferguson and Wheaton recited a list of story ideas for possible movies that Syfy executives rejected, like The Mexercist, Diary of Anne Frankenstein, and Manchilla (a movie about a creature that’s part-man, part-chinchilla).

Syfy Decides To Cancel ‘Eureka’ After Season 5 Concludes

Syfy doesn’t seem to be making any friends lately. After the network decided to cancel shows like the Battlestar Galactica spinoff/prequel, Caprica, and Stargate Universe, while adding mind–boggling non–science fiction fare like World Wrestling Entertainment’s Smackdown, former fans aren’t too intent on sticking around.
Now Syfy is adding to the growing number of unhappy fans with news that they will be canceling Eureka after the show’s fifth season ends.

SDCC 2011 Video: Exclusive Interviews With ‘Eureka’ Stars Felicia Day, Colin Ferguson
|
 |

Stars of the Syfy Channel hit series Eureka made the trek to San Diego Comic-Con to give fans the lowdown on the upcoming episodes of the current season of the show.
The show is about a small hidden town whose inhabitants are the smartest people on the planet. Everyone, all the way down to the owner of the local Cafe, is a brilliant scientist. Sheriff Carter is an outsider who was adopted by the town as its Sheriff bringing in street smarts and a level of common sense not as abundant in the bookish set of this bizarre little town.
This season, Felicia Day (The Guild, Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) joins the cast for several episodes for a new story arc. Post-panel I was able to catch up with Sheriff Carter himself Colin Ferguson for a one-on-one conversation about the show, his relationships with the cast, and about his relationship with the house in which his character lives and his returning daughter. I was also able to chat with Day about her character and the exciting new dynamic she will be bringing to the show. Check out the exclusive video interviews below.

SDCC 2011 Video: ‘Eureka’ Cast Discusses Season 4.5 & More
|
 |

The cast of Syfy’s hit TV show Eureka talked about what to expect in season 4.5 during a panel discussion on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
Prior to the cast coming out, the network showed a trailer for the upcoming episodes, which revealed plenty of guest stars. The main draw of the season is definitely the appearance of Stan “The Man” Lee, creator of classic Marvel characters like Spider-Man, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and several more.
“We’re all very professional adults on the set… but when we did that episode with Stan Lee everyone reverted to age 12,” said Wil Wheaton, who moderated the panel and appears on the show as Dr. Isaac Parrish.
The panel featured Colin Ferguson (Jack Carter), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Allison Blake), Neil Grayston (Douglas Fargo), Felicia Day (Dr. Holly Martin), and executive producers Jaime Paglia and Bruce Miller. We’ve embedded video of the panel below (check back soon for our one-on-one video interviews with Ferguson and Day).

‘Battlestar Galactica’ & ‘Eureka’ Episodes Added To Netflix Watch Instantly
Netflix subscribers who have been bored with the selection of streaming media available might take notice of some recent additions to their library, namely Battlestar Galactica.
But for anyone who hasn’t seen the show and has been wanting to start, don’t clear your DVD queue just yet. The first disc of the season 1 set is only available to rent as a DVD for some strange reason. This disc contains the 2-part miniseries that was created prior to being given a green light for a full season. And apparently it counts differently, except for that it’s listed as the official first two episodes of the show now.
The addition of the BSG episodes are part of a deal Netflix struck with NBC to add older content to its library, which also includes over 100 episodes of Saturday Night Live, Eureka, and much more.
