Armada audiobook

Armada
Audio CD | Audible Edition | Hardcover | Paperback | Kindle Edition
Written by Ernest Cline
Read by Wil Wheaton
Random House Audio
Release date: July 14, 2015

Armada is the much anticipated follow-up to Ernest Cline’s first novel Ready Player One and he travels much of the same territory as his first novel. Armada is a novel that positively overflows with references to the movies and video games of the 1980’s, and Cline’s passion for the cultural items of the period can be found on every page. Cline weaves a story that feels familiar, largely because it is rooted in movies and games that you’ve seen before.

Video Games: The Movie

A new documentary is on the way titled Video Games: The Movie, and, as you might have guessed, it is all about video games—from the early days of gaming and following the unbelievable evolution to where they are today, a true art form and multi-billion dollar industry.

The documentary is directed by Jeremy Snead, and executive produced by Zach Braff (Garden State, Wish I Was Here) and Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War trilogy, Unreal Tournament). It is narrated by The Goonies and Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin.

Now Video Games: The Movie has found itself a distributor, with Variance Films acquiring the rights, and a trailer has also been released, which you can check out below.

Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen Super Bowl jerseys 2014 banner

Leading up to this year’s Super Bowl, British X-Men co-stars and best pals Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen posted a photo to Twitter showing off their individual picks for winner of Sunday’s big game: Stewart wore a Seattle Seahawks jersey; McKellen wore a Denver Broncos jersey (never mind the soccer ball they’re holding, that’s a whole other story).

In the game last night, the Seahawks took off in the lead and then stayed there the entire game, crushing the Broncos 43-8, and it looks like Stewart was in a very celebratory mood as his team was winning – he posted a photo last night to Twitter of himself in the Seahawks jersey doing a one-armed push-up.

Release Date: April 30, 2013

Paramount is slowly but surely remastering and enhancing each season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and now sees the release of the Blu-ray for Season 3, which was the season when the series really took off. When TNG started coming out on DVD, Season 3 was the first box set I purchased, because while I’m a great fan of TNG, I’ve had difficulty sitting through some of those early episodes where the show was still finding its footing in the late 1980s (although, the pilot was awesome). Back in those days, people were used to one Star Trek and one Star Trek only. Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, Chekov – those were the characters who entered people’s living rooms each week and these are who viewers wanted to see. TNG was initially met with resistance, especially since it had a new Captain commanding a new Enterprise in the future.
