Rex and Bonnie in Partysaurus Rex

Disney continues its re-releasing of films in theaters with the 3D treatment of Finding Nemo hitting the big screen on September 14th. The good news is that we’re going to be treated to a new Toy Story short film titled Partysaurus Rex playing in front of Nemo.

Partysaurus Rex features Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn), the insecure toy T-Rex in the Toy Story gang. In the short, our favorite toy dinosaur is the star when Bonnie takes him for a dip in the tub.

See some images from Partysaurus Rex and check out a clip from the short here below. And remember to see the whole thing in theaters September 14!

Ellen DeGeneres

Last month we reported that Andrew Stanton had been given the go ahead to put a sequel for Finding Nemo into motion. When that was announced, some wondered what the plot of the story might be. While we are still a long ways away from finding that out, we now have word that Ellen DeGeneres will be reprising her role as the forgetful but ever so friendly fish, Dory, in Finding Nemo 2.

As earlier reported, the Pixar big wigs fell in love with the concept of the story for a Finding Nemo sequel. So this could be a fitting sequel to one of Pixar’s most popular titles.

Rex and Bonnie in Partysaurus Rex

Rex, the Tyrannosaurus Rex from the Toy Story films, is a misunderstood dinosaur. Although he is in the form of a terrifying tyrannosaurus rex, the toy is hilariously skiddish and has a heart of gold. But after taking a back seat for so long, Rex is finally getting a short of his own. Check out the image preview here below of this short, titled Partysaurus Rex, which will be attached to the Finding Nemo 3D re-release.

Here’s what Partysaurus Rex director Mark Walsh (animator for previous Pixar films like Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille) told Entertainment Weekly:

“If you’re a bath toy you get really intense playtime. It’s like a party. Then when the water goes down you can’t move. You’re helpless. And that’s pathetic, these guys in bottom of the tub all the time.”

Finding Nemo

Finding a story to tell for a possible Finding Nemo sequel is quite difficult, but you can bet that Pixar is working on bringing audiences back into Australian waters and reintroducing us to Marlin, Nemo, Dory, Crush, and Bruce.

Deadline reports that Finding Nemo director Andrew Station has found that a story to tell, that the studio loves the idea, and that he’ll be back to direct the sequel. The director is one of the most recognizable people on the Pixar staff, having served as executive producer for a number of Pixar films, as well as the director for Finding Nemo and Wall-E. The former film earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Picture and is currently Pixar’s second highest grossing movie.

Disney In Depth banner

Welcome to another edition of Disney In Depth! This week, in honor of Disney-Pixar’s most recent feature, Brave, I will be focusing on some of the best elements of Pixar’s films: funny characters. They evoke a laugh or two during perilous scenes, and manage to make us smirk when a situation seems far from humorous. These are the funniest of the bunch, offering a witty quip or inspiring a gag. This animation studio is known for developing deep characters, in both their personalities and designs. Thanks to Pixar’s brilliant team of writers and the talented voice artists who made these images into fully-fleshed individuals, we have a bunch of characters to root for and giggle along with. Here are the ones I find as most hilarious.
