This month in A Game Of Thrones #6 we deal mainly with interpersonal relationships between the characters, helping to feed the already twisting plots. Allies are not always to be trusted, nor are enemies always the most dangerous. George R.R. Martin‘s debut novel is brought to the comic reader in breathtaking fashion.
We begin by seeing Jon Snow humiliating one of his “brothers” of the Night’s Watch. Not his finest hour nor an intelligent move on his part. Luckily, he quickly sees the folly of his ways, just as his father, Eddard Stark, knows that being hundreds of leagues away in King’s Landing is perilous on multiple levels. Surprisingly, he discovers his wife is nearby and being hidden in a most unusual place. Again, not everything is as it seems.

Check Out This ‘Game Of Thrones’ Interactive Viewer’s Guide
HBO’s new series Game Of Thrones premiered last night and this epic fantasy contains all new lands and regions to learn about. The show’s beautiful opening credits attempt to familiarize us with the areas most shown in this first season: Winterfell, lorded over by the house of Stark; The Wall, the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros guarded by the Night Watch; King’s Landing, home of rotund King Robert Baratheon and his conniving Queen Cersei Lannister; and Pentos, the Free City where the rightful heirs to the Seven Kingdoms, Viserys Targaryen and his sister Daenerys, have formed an alliance with the barbaric Dothraki horse warriors in an attempt to win back the throne.
But the Game Of Thrones universe is much larger than what we’ve been shown so far. With any good fantasy tale, you have to have a map, so HBO has created an official interactive Viewer’s Guide to the world which includes a detailed map, along with family histories and backgrounds.

Fans of George R.R. Martin‘s fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire have reason to celebrate today, as an official release date has finally been set for the fifth book in the saga, A Dance with Dragons.
According to EW, July 12, 2011 will see the release of the next book in the series, whose last book, A Feast for Crows, was released more than 5 years ago. The new book is reported to be almost 900 pages in hardcover, and will focus on characters from the series who were mostly absent in the previous book. The timing for the release of the new book will be perfect (assuming Martin is finished in time) as it will be coming out just after the HBO adaptation of A Game of Thrones, the first book in the series, wraps up.
The Song of Ice and Fire started in 1996 with the release of A Game of Thrones. The series revolves around the Stark family, and their roles in political intrigue and war in a fantasy land under threat of human and supernatural forces.

Sean Bean Cast In HBO’s “Ice And Fire” Adaptation ‘Game Of Thrones’
Back in November, it was announced that HBO had ordered a pilot episode for a show called Game of Thrones, which is based on the highly-popular fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, A Song of Fire and Ice (Read: George R.R. Martin’s “˜A Song Of Ice And Fire’ Series Heads For HBO). The pilot will be directed by Tom McCarthy, who is a well-known character actor who has appeared in movies like Meet the Parents and a slew of George Clooney movies including Syriana, Good Night, and Good Luck, and Michael Clayton. Mr. McCarthy is a multi-talented man, though, and does have some writing and directing experience, having directed wonderful movies like The Station Agent and Oscar-nominated The Visitor, as well as a story writer on Pixar’s Up. The pilot is one of about ten that will attempt to obtain a full series treatment by HBO.
To assure that they give it all that they have, the show is putting together quite the cast. Most-notably, Sean Bean has just been cast in the role of Lord Eddard Stark, an honorable man who becomes an adviser to the king. Bean been around for a long time and has done many great things, but he is probably best known for his work as Boromir, the loyal warrior fighting temptation in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. He’s also appeared in movies like National Treasure, Silent Hill, Troy, and even as Emperor-to-be Martin Septim in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion!
