Before you enter this post drooling with anticipation for that God of War movie you’ve been waiting so very long for, allow me to clarify: no, there is no movie based on the hit video game God of War being made. Not yet, anyway. Don’t forget — not too long ago it looked like Brett Ratner would be directing, so an eternal wait is not the worst thing in the world.

To hold us over for now, Gamervision decided to make their own trailer for a God of War movie, only with an interesting spin on the presentation. Instead of an explosive trailer showing of a guaranteed epic summer blockbuster, the site went with more of a dry indie film vibe, and it happens to work really well. Whodathunkit?

A new video has been released online, and it shows the first 10 minutes of the game. This will give you a basic idea of what to expect when you get your own copy. Of course, if you’re like me, you’ve already purchased the special God of War and God of War II re-release OR the District 9 Blu-ray in order to grab your own download of the demo! Naturally it would be recommended that you play said demo, but if you just can’t get your hands on it, this is worth a peek.

Thank the Gods! It’s being reported that horribly unfitting director Brett Ratner has decided to shelve his adaptation of the fantastic video game God of War.

This project was one of the seemingly infinite amount of projects that Ratner was lining up. More importantly, it was the worst match to what Brett Ratner has evolved into, making it a horrible thing for fans to see happening.

It turns out that Ratner will instead make another movie his next project. Not shocking at all, it’s not the Hugh Hefner biopic, it’s not Conan, and it’s not Beverly Hills Cop 4 — though it does include Eddie Murphy. The movie is called Trump Heist, and it pairs Murphy with Chris Tucker as a couple janitors who plan a heist on the Trump Towers. This, sounds much more up Ratner’s alley.

The march of the Greek mythology movies has begun to move forward as casting has started for both the Clash of the Titans remake and War of Gods.

For Clash of the Titans, Warner Bros. is in talks with Terminator Salvation and Avatar star Sam Worthington to star as Perseus. The movie will be directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) and is written by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark).

Relativity Media is handling War of Gods and is talking to Henry Cavill (The Tudors) to star as Theseus. This one is being directed by Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) and is written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.

It’s been long-rumored that Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand) would be directing the adaptation of the popular video game, God of War.

UGO recently spoke to the man directly and he confirmed his involvement — it’s official, he’s definitely directing God of War.

The first God of War game (likely to be the basis for the movie) is a fantastical and ultra-violent Greek mythology-inspired tale following Kratos, a bad-ass Spartan soldier who looks to God of War, Ares, to help him in battle. While a slave to Ares, Kratos accidentally slaughters his own wife and child, causing him to seek revenge upon Ares himself.
