In order to keep everyone excited for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, many images and some trailers have been released over the months. Today, the 2nd theatrical trailer was presented to the public by Warner Brothers.

It’s amazing how fast time sometimes moves. In November, we were shocked and angered with the news that our precious Harry Potter would not be released as it was planned, but instead, it would be pushed back eight whole months. The July 17, 2009 release is still a ways off, but on the bright side of life, we’re already half of the way there. Ta-da!

Very recently a ton of screenshots from a grainy Japanese Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince showed up, but the actual trailer was nowhere to be seen.

As expected, that trailer has now been unveiled by Blog Hogwarts, who found it somewhere on YouTube.

The video is pretty congested and tough to see, but it does have quite a few new bits that we haven’t seen yet. It also gives a little more insight into Jim Broadbent‘s Professor Slughorn character (for those who haven’t read the books) and his place in the next story.

In this sixth installment, Harry learns many things about the dark past of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) after discovering a book which claims itself property of the Half-Blood Prince.

The web has been a bit of a buzz recently as a gigantic pile of images from the new movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has shown up on a Japanese HP site.

No one really knows where they came from but are screenshots from some sort of Japanese trailer or TV spot; most of them are very much blurry and not of good quality at all. To me it looks like someone basically just screen capped a trailer, shot-by-shot, and didn’t really “stop” the video in good spots.

Amusingly, the site is requesting that no one download “their” images, but considering that it does look like they pretty much ripped ’em off from a trailer, there’s one above to check out and you can follow the link to Potter Mania see the rest of them.

Hopefully by now you’ve all done our hamster wheel routine to work off that excess holiday weight and recovered from any New Year, Same Hangover you might have battled to the bitter end.

To start things off right, EW has a new issue out with a 2009 preview and a whole bunch of images to go with it. Some of them we’ve seen, but most are new, so below we’ve included some of the better ones to check out and mark on that shiny new Hannah Montana calendar you got for Christmas!

Keep in brain that this is just a taste of some of the movies coming along from the article at EW. There’s many, many more movies coming this year that will undoubtedly garner some excitement in you and I and when they do come, we’ll count our goosebumps together — but for now, enjoy this small little preview of some movies you’re either already thrilled for, or maybe you didn’t know about yet.

Unfortunately, as good as the trailer is it has difficulty being effective. See, the truth is, the movie should have been coming out next week. We should all be buzzing with Harry Potter glee right now, and we’re not. Instead, we still have 9 months left before that joy that we crave arrives on July 17th, so it’s tough times.

The trailer shows a good amount of footage we’ve already seen paired with a lot more new lighthearted moments. It definitely gives a strong idea of where this movie is going and the tone is will have — basically, the main story will be dark intersperses with some fluff (like Ron becoming lovesick). These more “silly” moments are nice to see, considering the previously released trailers made it a point to let us know that this sixth film installment will be dark.
