| ‘Call Of Duty’ Franchise Moves To Three-Year Cycle
For the past handful of years, the Call of Duty franchise has alternated their yearly game titles between developers Infinity Ward (Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Ghosts) and Treyarch (Call of Duty 3, World At War, Black Ops, Black Ops II). Publisher Activision has decided to change this up now, switching to a three-year cycle. This will begin later this year with the first entry in the series developed by Sledgehammer Games. Adding a third developer will allow each of the three a third year to make the best game they can instead of the two years Treyarch—whose next game will be released in 2015—and Infinity Ward—whose next game will be released in 2016—have been working with.

| E3 2013: Two New ‘Call Of Duty: Ghosts’ Gameplay Demos Released |
|
The other big first-person shooter franchise being shown off at E3 2013, Call of Duty, also happens to be the undefeated king of the genre. Battlefield 3 tried to take a run at the crown when it came out—and many were convinced it would take COD out—but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 once again proved emphatically that the throne is still theirs to sit. Now Battlefield 4 is on the way, and it has Call of Duty: Ghosts in its sights. It’s an interesting year for Call of Duty, as it’s Infinity Ward’s turn to take the wheel but they are not making the fourth installment in the Modern Warfare series as many expected. Instead it’s Ghosts, and a chance to try something new. Though judging by these new gameplay demos, it’s still the Call of Duty game you’d expect it to be. That said, they have brought in Oscar-winning filmmaker Stephen Gaghan to help with the story, so it could surprise some people in the end. You can check out two new gameplay demos for Call of Duty: Ghosts below now, one of which shows how you can use your new canine companion, and the other shows some underwater action.

| Xbox One Reveal: Videos Offer First Look At ‘Call Of Duty: Ghosts’ |
In case you missed it, Microsoft showed off their Xbox 360 follow-up, the Xbox One, earlier today. As promised, video games weren’t a very big part of the presentation as this particular event was dedicated to showing the console and talking about the company’s vision for the future. The games will be on full display when E3 arrives next month. There were, however, a couple of video game-related topics covered, the biggest of which was the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts, which is Infinity Ward’s follow-up to Modern Warfare 3. The game smartly looks to up the story—with the help of Oscar-winning Traffic screenwriter and Syriana writer-director Stephen Gaghan—instead of just the action, and will hopefully keep the series fresh and fun. A look at the game’s next-gen tech and new features was offered first, followed by the reveal trailer. Continue below now to check them out.
