The Hitman video game franchise been up in the air in recent weeks, making longtime fans of the series very nervous. Square Enix, who published the last two main games in the series, 2012’s Hitman: Absolution and last year’s episodic release simply titled Hitman, and also developed mobile games for the series such as Hitman GO and Hitman: Sniper, decided that they were going to part ways with the creator and developer of the games, IO-Interactive.
Square Enix attempted to sell IO-Interactive, but instead IO was able to buy themselves back, making them an independent developer once again. But to kick off their return to independence, IO has decided to make the first location in their episodic game available to play for free.
