| Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and More Confirmed For Jon Favreau’s ‘The Lion King’
Jon Favreau‘s The Lion King is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated films of 2019. We saw a small snippet of the live-action take of the animated opening sequence at D23, which pretty much tells us that this will be a visually stunning film. But that was just the beginning. One of the biggest rumors going around earlier on in the casting process was that Beyoncé Knowles-Carter was going to play Nala. Well, you can put that rumor to rest, as the actress and singer has been confirmed to play her. | ‘Luke Cage’ Star Alfre Woodard Joins Disney’s ‘The Lion King’
Another has been added to the cast of Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King, with Luke Cage star Alfre Woodard signing on. Woodard will be voicing the mother of Simba and mate of Mufasa, Sarabi. The character was voiced in the original animated movie by the late Madge Sinclair.

| D23 Expo 2017: Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ Live-Action Film
As far as we know, Disney’s upcoming live-action iteration of The Lion King is in the very early stages of development. So early that they are still adding cast members as we speak. However, with the film expected to hit theaters just before the next D23 Expo, director Jon Favreau was kind enough to stop by this year’s D23 to provide a small sample of his vision for the new Lion King.
