I never saw the original Overboard, but the romantic comedy centered on a wife named Joanna (Goldie Hawn) suffering from a case of amnesia after falling off her husband’s (Edward Herrmann) yacht. Using this as an opportunity to escape the bonds of marriage, the husband leaves his wife. but Dean (Kurt Russell), a widowed carpenter with four kids who once worked for Joanna, arrives and claims she’s his wife. So she ends up putting the rich life she once knew behind to live a blue collar life.

All the fun and cheesy tropes of learning how to work a regular job fall into play and there are the occasional romantic gestures. So when it was announced that there would be a gender-twist remake starring Anna Faris as the one who takes advantage of a rich playboy’s (Eugenio Derbez) amnesia, you can probably expect more of the same conceits. As for Episode 3.19 “Failed Experiments,” we definitely see some failed experiments!
