Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Hath No Fury’ From Ragnarok
Ragnarok Publications has a new Kickstarter for an anthology that looks to be extremely cool! Hath No Fury is a collection of 19 short stories from some of today’s leading science fiction, fantasy, and urban fantasy authors, focusing on female leads and inspired by some amazing women from history, literature, and film.
The new anthology will be edited by Melanie R. Meadors (Ragnarok Publicity and Marketing Director) and J.M. Martin (Ragnarok Owner and Creative Manager). I had the chance to speak with Melanie, who has some great things to say about the book and the Kickstarter process in general. Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Lilith In The Garden,’ An Indie Sci-Fi Drama Short Film
Emily Lawrence, an actress, writer, and veteran audiobook narrator, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a short film she is writing, producing, and starring in titled Lilith in the Garden.
Described as a sci-fi drama that “looks at what makes us who we are,” Lilith is to be directed by Leslie Bumgarner, a longtime cinematographer who recently started to take on directing projects for short features and television, with actor Rob Mathes set to play the male lead. The target fundraising goal for the campaign is $5,000, and donors will be treated to all manner of juicy perks depending on the size of their donation.

SDCC 2016: In The Not-Too-Distant Future, The Revived ‘MST3K’ Is Coming To Netflix
|
Last November, Shout! Factory, which owns the rights to the cult classic comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000, teamed up with the show’s creator and first host Joel Hodgson to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund a reboot of MST3K. Their target fundraising goal was set at $2 million, but the campaign ultimately became the highest-funded film and TV crowdfunding effort in history by raising a grand total of $5.7 million, allowing them to fund the production of 14 new episodes with an all-star squadron of geek icons and comedy geniuses working in front of and behind the camera.
On Saturday at a panel for the MST3K revival at San Diego Comic-Con, the announcement was made that the new show will be coming exclusively to Netflix as part of a $5 billion investment from the film and television streaming giant in original programming, which also includes their Marvel Studios series and the recent Stranger Things.

Kickstarter Spotlight: Documentary About Legendary Music Magazine Creem
Creem Magazine, the premier source for all things rock and roll in its real guttural sense, and which became a sort of underground bible for the true outcasts (fans and musicians alike) in the 1970s, is the focus of an upcoming documentary, Boy Howdy! The Story of CREEM Magazine, which is currently making the rounds on Kickstarter for fundraising.
