Metal Gear Survive

Konami has released an announce trailer for the next game in the Metal Gear series, and it’s a bit different than fans are used to. The game is the first in the franchise without creator Hideo Kojima, who parted ways with Konami after Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released, involved.

As you’ll see in the trailer, the game, which is titled Metal Gear Survive, looks…well it looks pretty strange. Much different from the usual Metal Gear game. At first no one had a clue what was going on in the trailer, but thankfully some information on what the game actually is has since been revealed.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Image

E3 2014 was jam-packed with video game previews, as was expected, but one game not spotlighted much—at least not publicly—was Hideo Kojima‘s upcoming sequel Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A new cinematic trailer for the game was released during E3, but the good stuff, the gameplay footage, was shown only behind closed doors.

Now, a week or so later, Kojima took part in a livestream in which the 30-minute gameplay demo shown at E3 was shared with the rest of the world. You can check it out below.

Konami E3 pre-showOn Thursday, June 2nd, Konami held simultaneous events in Toronto, Mexico City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles for the video game media and their die-hard fans to give them a preview of what they could expect from Konami in the up-coming year. I happened to be fortunate enough to attend the preview that was held in Toronto at the Real Sports Bar and catch a glimpse of what’s new. Here’s the run-down, game-facers.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

Available for the Nintendo 3DS, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is will feature a return to the feel of the original and is designed to highlight the features of the 3DS gaming platform. Set outdoors in a jungle environment with a Special Forces style of play, Snake Eater will have a few cool new features:

Photo-Cammo: The new photo-cammo feature will allow players to take a snap shot of anything using the 3DS camera and use the colors to customize their own unique camouflage for their characters in play. I myself am looking forward to creating a “dog-shit brown” Snake Eater character.

Dethklok – Video Games And Comic Books Get Metal

Tom Cheredar   |

Dethklok, the band from Adult Swim’s series Metalocalypse, is heading to Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network in a new game from Konami.

Users will play as a Dethklok roadie named Klokateer who will go up against “a heinous rampage [of] rabid mutant fans in brutal combat,” while protecting the pure fans that are presumably non-mutants. And off course players will be entertained with music from Dethklok, including three all-new songs.

While I am psyched about the idea of a totally metal game like this, I’m a little disappointed that there’s no mention of The Goon, who most recently crossed paths with the Norwegian musicians in the 32-page one-shot Dethklok vs The Goon comic from Dark Horse. If you are bashing mutants or the like, then it’s only natural to let him crossover again as a secret or unlockable character. (I don’t even really care if he kills the roadie, just put him in, ok game studio!?)
