A Monster Calls

Before J.A. Bayona jumps into the production of Jurassic World 2, he’ll be finishing the press run for A Monster Calls. Based on the Patrick Ness novel of the same name, the film follows a young 12-year-old boy (Lewis MacDougall) who is dealing with far more than other boys his age. Despite the weight of the world on his shoulders, he finds support in an unlikely ally, a monster (voiced by Liam Neeson), who helps guide him and give him the courage he needs to overcome his fears.

Just in time for National Face Your Fears Day, Focus Features has released a new video to help those stand up to what you are most afraid of and to seize the day. Check out the video below.

A Monster Calls

A new trailer has been released for A Monster Calls, a fantasy drama from director J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible) that’s an adaptation of the children’s novel of the same name written by Patrick Ness, who also penned the screenplay. It stars Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Ghostbusters), Lewis MacDougall (Pan), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Warcraft), and Liam Neeson (The Phantom Menace, Batman Begins) as a giant talking tree monster.

A Monster Calls tells the story of a boy who escapes to a fantasy world in order to help him deal with the illness his mother is suffering from and the bullies who torment him at school. The novel it’s adapted from was written based on an original idea by author Siobhan Dowd, who came up with it while suffering from terminal cancer but sadly passed away before she was able to write it.

You can read more about the movie and check out the trailer below.

Ted 2 Ted and Mark Wahlberg

Universal Pictures has released a new red band trailer for Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted 2. Mark Wahlberg returns as John, a hedonistic weed-smoking everyday man who happens to be best friends with his living breathing childhood teddy bear, Ted (voiced by MacFarlane). In the sequel, Ted is unable to start a new family because the law sees him as property, so he and John must work together to identify Ted as a person.

Since this is a red brand trailer, its probably best to play it with some headphones on, unless your office space doesn’t mind profanity or references to drug use.

Run All Night Liam Neeson

At this point, any sort of action film that Liam Neeson stars in can be considered some sort of spinoff or sequel to Taken. It may all look the same, and some people may be catching on to this. Now, studios may need to look for a new geriatric actor to fill the lead role in action films as Neeson sees a near-end to his career in the genre.

The 62-year-old Neeson spoke to The Guardian while promoting his upcoming Run All Night. During the interview he was asked how much action film he has left in him, and the actor responded with “Maybe two more years.” Hit the jump for more.

Vampire's Kiss on Scream Factory Blu-ray

Vampire’s Kiss
Blu-ray
Director: Robert Bierman
Screenwriter: Joseph Minion
Cast: Nicolas Cage, María Conchita Alonso, Jennifer Beals
Scream Factory
Rated R | 103 Minutes
Release Date: February 10, 2015

Synopsis: Teetering on the edge of sanity, volatile literary agent Peter Loew (Nicolas Cage) tries to find purpose in his life through a cutthroat work ethic and a hedonistic night life. But when an encounter with a mysterious beauty leaves Loew convinced that he is turning into a vampire, his behavior turns positively outrageous.

Robert Bierman was originally scheduled to direct the 1986 remake of The Fly, but withdrew from the project after the death of his daughter. Instead, Bierman’s feature-length debut was the 1989 black comedy, Vampire’s Kiss.

Imagine if you will, a young Nicolas Cage (hot off Raising Arizona and Moonstruck) in a business suit and plastic vampire fangs, screaming, “I’m a vampire! I’m a vampire!” That pretty much sums up this bizarre, coked-out horror comedy. Even if you’ve never seen Bierman’s film, you probably know bits and pieces of it, thanks to YouTube’s impressive selection of “Nicolas Cage Losing His Shit” montages.

Liam Neeson Clash of Clans Super Bowl

The question of the day in the sports world after Super Bowl XLIX was: Did New England win, or did Seattle lose? Well the answer is simple. The answer is neither. The winner was Liam Neeson (Or AngryNeeson52). After all, he has a very particular set of skills…

Liam Neeson, the once and possibly future Oscar contender from classics like Schindler’s List and Rob Roy, developed into the most unlikely and marketable action star in recent memory. Super Bowl commercials are almost more of a big marketing deal than the actual game. Amidst the countless ads involving cute animals, fast cars, and alcoholic beverages came (like Neeson) the most unlikely great advertisement of Super Sunday. In the first half of the big game, a commercial ran for the hit mobile game Clash of Clans. After being defeated by BigbuffetBoy85, Neeson — in his best Bryan Mills (his Taken series character) — threatens to unleash his particular set of skills, which in Clash of Clans include “lots of barbarians and dragons.” Neeson’s verbal threats are interrupted when a server at Little Cupcakes Bakeshop (in Bay Ridge Brooklyn!) hilariously mispronounces the actor’s name as LIE-am, in a moment any one who has ever been to Starbucks will understand. You can watch the commercial below.
