Substitute Creature, book 4 of author Charles Gilman‘s Tales from Lovecraft Middle School book series, will be released on September 24, 2013, so publisher Quirk Books has put together an introductory video to the series called “Welcome to Lovecraft Middle School.”

The series centers on a Lovecraftian, haunted middle school with monsters in disguise and mysteries to be solved. Each book is a small hardcover with black and white illustrations (think Lemony Snicket) with a lenticular cover that reveals a hidden creature. While the books are targeted for kids ages 9 and up and make a great introduction to the supernatural for them, they’re really a fun, quick read for adults, too.
