Incorruptible #4
Written by Mark Waid
Art by Jean Diaz
Colors by Andrew Dalhouse
Letters by Ed Dukeshire
BOOM! Studios
Price: $3.99
Release Date: March 31, 2010
I have been reading both Mark Waid‘s Irredeemable and his Incorruptible since issue 1 on both of them. I have enjoyed Irredeemable immensely and started out pretty interested in Incorruptible with the first couple of issues. I am definitely still interested in where the story goes because after as many issues of Irredeemable as there have been, I am confident that Waid knows where he wants to go with this story. My only problem is that I don’t find myself connecting to the characters in the same way in this part of the universe. As the story continues we get to see more about how Max Damage decided to change from world’s greatest villain to hero during the Plutonian’s massacre. As this unfolds we also see that Max has a few things he would like to look in to for his path to being a hero. I find that I am more interested in the Police Lieutenant, Louis Armadale, and the psychology behind Max Damage and his redemptive goals than I am anything to do with Jail Bait. She is a little bit annoying and hard to relate to for me.

The Incredibles #7
Written by Mark Waid, Landry Walker
Art & Covers by Ramanda Kamarga
Colors by Andrew Dalhouse
Letters by Troy Peteri
BOOM! Studios
Price: $2.99
Release date: March 24, 2010
The Incredibles is one of my favorite Pixar movies ever made. Naturally being about super heroes, this is definitely the one movie that was ripe for a comic book interpretation. When I first read Mark Waid‘s original interpretation I was extremely upset that it was only four issues. Well BOOM! Kids has since decided to make an ongoing series of The Incredibles and I couldn’t be happier with Mark Waid and Landry Walker‘s writing on the series thus far. As the story continues in The Incredibles #7 we get a conclusion to the story of Mesmerella and Dash being grounded and powerless. This story was particularly interesting because it takes Dash completely out of his element and has him trying to figure out how to be a hero even without his powers. It is a testament to the writing team’s character development and growth, and is a good sign for issues to come. This is especially important when you have young characters like Dash and Violet in a story.

Cyberforce: Hunter-Killer #5
Written by Mark Waid
Art by Kenneth Rocafort
Top Cow
Release date: March 10, 2010
I was never much of a fan of CyberForce during the late nineties. I found that most of the comics put out in that era looked the same and the characters tended to run together. So naturally I was surprised to read CyberForce: Hunter-Killer #5 and find it so much fun. CyberForce: Hunter-Killer follows Cyberforce, the underground cybernetic resistance force fighting against the world-dominating CyberData Corporation, and their partnership with Hunter-Killer, an elite force commissioned to hunt down and destroy the rogue Ultra-Sapiens created in the 1940s by mad scientist Morningstar. Cyberdata has produced a modern mobile phone system called JETT that activates the latent abilities in Ultra-Sapiens in order to take the government contract for hunting with their S.H.O.C. troops. In the end, team member Network and Damper are forced to sacrifice themselves in order to shut down the spread of the Ultra-Sapien activation.

| POW! and BOOM! Join Forces For New Stan Lee Comics Last week if you visited a number of comic book websites, or read the LA Times, you may have seen an ad that read “Stan’s Back” that lead to stansback.com, which simply contained the “Stan’s Back” logo and nothing more.
Today it was revealed what those ads meant. BOOM! Studios announced today via press release that they have entered into an agreement with POW! Entertainment to to publish three new superhero titles presented by Stan Lee. There was no information about the actual titles, other than that they will be released sometime later this year, and that one of them will be written by BOOM! Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid. BOOM! promises that the other two titles will also feature “A-list writers as a part of the creative team.” We’ll have to wait and see who will be handling the art, and what these stories will be about.

Marvel Comics has always been the most current/relatable of all the comic publishers and they’ve never shied away from the hot-button issues of the moment.
So it comes as no surprise that this week’s issue of Amazing Spider-Man finds our favorite wall crawler relating to those Americans hit hardest by the recession when Peter Parker becomes unemployed in Amazing Spider-Man #623. The publisher released a new Pasqual Ferry teaser to the upcoming story by Mark Waid and Paul Azaceta. Check out the image and Marvel’s full press release below regarding the issue, which comes out tomorrow.
