What if the world’s greatest superhero became the world’s greatest supervillain? Previously in Irredeemable“¦ The Plutonian, Earth’s most powerful and beloved hero, has gone rogue. In the past few weeks, tens of millions of innocents have died at his hands as he has rampaged across the planet. His former teammates, the Paradigm, have been searching far and wide for some way to stop him. For now their best defense is Survivor, one of their own, who has absorbed his dead twin’s powers and has forced the Plutonian into retreat — and, unwittingly, into the hands of Modeus, Plutonian’s former arch-enemy, who now secretly inhabits the body of Plutonian’s young sidekick. Previously in Incorruptible“¦ Until recently, Max Damage headed the FBI’s most wanted list. Then mankind’s premier defender, the Plutonian, went berserk and blew up the FBI. After weeks of disappearance, Max has resurfaced, apparently having rededicated his life to superheroism. Max’s sidekick, the severely underage Jailbait, is — to put it mildly — unhappy with this bizarre decision. Max’s former enemy, police lieutenant Louis Armadale, is skeptical of Max’s new path. Together, the three have followed a trail of violence to the hidden lab of David Orjean (mockingly known as “Dr. Origin”), where ordinary people (terrified of Plutonian) are paying huge money in hopes of being granted superpowers”¦

Previously in Incorruptible… Until recently, Max Damage headed the FBI’s most wanted list. Then mankind’s premier defender, the Plutonian, went berserk and blew up the FBI. Something happened in the moment of Plutonian’s transformation, something Max isn’t talking about yet…but it was a transformative moment for Max, as well. After weeks of disappearance, Max has resurfaced, apparently having rededicated his life to superheroism. Max’s sidekick, the severely underage Jailbait, is — to put it mildly — unhappy with his bizarre decision. Max’s former enemy, police lieutenant Louis Armadale, is skeptical of Max’s new path…but he’s willing to listen, eager to find out just what set this former supercriminal on his new path… The second issue of Incorruptible continues to give us more information on Max Damage, revealing more on his super power through a clever shaving scene with him and Jailbait that I really enjoyed. Speaking of Jailbait, I find her parts (no pun intended) hilarious and whenever she comes on-panel I light up with excitement.

Meanwhile, it’s evident to everyone in the Paradigm — including her husband Gilgamos — that Bette Noir has been keeping some staggering secrets…. So far I’ve been loving the job Mark Waid has been doing on Irredeemable, it’s been my favorite BOOM! book along with another Mark Waid written series, Incorruptible. Being a life-long Superman fan, it’s fun to see what the character would be like if he turned on the world.

| SDCC 09: Mondo Marvel Panel |
 |

Not a lot of news out of the Mondo Marvel panel at the San Diego Comic-Con (most of the big news came out of Marvel’s Cup O’ Joe panel). Marvel Mondo was mostly about answering fans questions and teasing some new stuff. The panel started off with some funny screens introducing the panel guests, as Marvel always likes to have a lot of fun at their panels.
We did get some news out of it… Rick Remender will be writing a new on-going series featuring the new Sorceror Supreme, titled Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural (no one asked what Doctor Voodoo has a PHD in). Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers will be written by Reginald Hudlin with art by Dennis Cowel and will show what happens in the past with a meeting between Cap and the previous Black Panther. November will bring a new attitude to the Marvel Adventures line, keeping the done in one stories, but adding more subplots and making them a bit more cohesive as a line. It will be a great jumping on point for new readers who have not checked out the more kid-friendly line.
