Green Hornet #30 fills in a much needed gap in the current comic market. And that is super heroes solving crimes and fighting bad guys. Other companies have heroes battling heroes, fighting super villains, but this is just back to basics good guys vs. bad guys.

Author Jai Nitz turns in a fun script in this issue. It’s PACKED with new twists and turns in the Green Hornet saga. He introduces some new allies for the Hornet, does a great job moving the villains story forward without even having the villain IN THE COMIC. And, last but not least, he changes something in the Green Hornet mythos that has never been done before. So far, I kinda like it. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes and if the changes stick.

I’ve haven’t had much exposure to Vampirella other than drooling at her famously scant costume in issues of Wizard when I was a teenager. In 2010, Dynamite Entertainment acquired the rights to Vampirella and began publishing her series soon thereafter. One of her longtime allies, Pantha, gets a spot in the limelight with the debut of her own ongoing series, Pantha. This release is the first move of Dynamite’s planned expansion of the Vampirella universe.

In ancient times, Sekhmet the Egyptian goddess of war, committed some atrocities. As punishment, Ra separated several of her aspects and sentenced them to eternally roam the Earth, atoning for Sekhmet’s sins. Pantha, an immortal shape-shifter, is one of these aspects. In this debut comic, she’s investigating a missing persons crime near the Mexican border in New Mexico. What she finds introduces a nemesis long thought dead and a mysterious woman, Mayra, who seems to have some link to Pantha’s Egyptian past.

This month in A Game Of Thrones #6 we deal mainly with interpersonal relationships between the characters, helping to feed the already twisting plots. Allies are not always to be trusted, nor are enemies always the most dangerous. George R.R. Martin‘s debut novel is brought to the comic reader in breathtaking fashion.

We begin by seeing Jon Snow humiliating one of his “brothers” of the Night’s Watch. Not his finest hour nor an intelligent move on his part. Luckily, he quickly sees the folly of his ways, just as his father, Eddard Stark, knows that being hundreds of leagues away in King’s Landing is perilous on multiple levels. Ever wonder what would have happened if things were slightly different in the old tale of Dracula? Well, this series explores the concept of it all being a repetitive loop, one where things play out slightly different each time, with the characters sometimes being unaware of what is coming to pass. Add to this timeless tale a new entity, in the form of Vampirella, and you get some very different results. Vampirella Vs.
