Written by Rob Williams
Illustrated by Unai De Zarate
Colored by Alejandro Sanchez
Lettered by Marshall Dillon
Cover by Fabiano Neves
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: February 29, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99

The operative word here is ‘Trip.’ Y’see, RoboCop is going insane. He’s having flashbacks to his childhood that quickly turn into nightmares, and he’s seeing old enemies in hallucinations and talking to them.

Unfortunately, he’s dealing with a few other problems while he’s losing his mind. America has fallen, OCP has taken over Old Detroit, he and a handful of fellow officers are on the lamb, trying to cross the Michigan border to get U.S. military aid, and, as RoboCop: Road Trip #3 opens, he’s sinking to the bottom of Lake Erie, about to be mauled by a large, robotic mountain lion.

Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: December 14th, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99

5 years of publishing at Dynamite and this book is still going strong! And Red Sonja #60 proves why it’s not going anyplace anytime soon. While not trying to change the world or win an Eisner, this book accomplished what it sets out to do-tell a fun tale of everyone’s favorite She-Devil with a sword!

I was not familiar with writer Eric Trautmann until a couple of weeks ago when I read his FANTASTIC Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #1. And while I’m not a regular Red Sonja reader right now, I’ll be honest, the fact that he wrote it weighed heavily on my choosing to review it. I was NOT disappointed. He brings a certain level of fun-even in a deadly serious comic-to all of his projects and this one is no different. We have in this issue, just what we want out of a Red Sonja comic. Trouble in a small village, band of wandering heroes stumbles into a battle they are not at all prepared for and well…no spoilers here.

Covers by Alex Ross, Stephen Sadowski, and Fabiano Neves
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: November 23rd, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99

Another excellent issue of this classic character’s title. The Last Phantom #10 is truly a treat for anyone to read! You don’t have to be a long-time reader or fan of the series, in fact, with this issue you SHOULDN’T be!!

Writer Scott Beatty tells a very different tale of the Phantom in this issue, and unfortunately, for me to give anything more away would be spoiler territory. Safe to say, though, it’s one we’ve never seen before and it literally makes the series thus far. Included is great big action scenes, tons of human relation stories, and all around fun.

If you’ve never read The Last Phantom this is not the issue you should start with. That being said, this IS a pretty great issue. It’s got everything that a comic book should have”ā€¯heroics, action, mystery, and most of all FUN!!!

Scott Beatty does a fantastic job of characterizing The Phantom as a serious hero, giving him a bit of a chip on his shoulder, but not making him boring or overly grim. He keeps a sense of humor when not being threatening to the villains of the story, which is a nice change of pace from most masked men with issues.

Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: August 31, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99

Red Sonja #57 was so action packed it is ridiculous, and I mean that in a good way. Out on an assassination assignment in Koth, she stumbles into a huge plot between members of an elite family and a ruler that may not be all he seems…one of whom she saved, another who she contracted to kill. The beginnings of the cross and double cross are brought to light, but only after Sonja battles a huge stone golem and dozens of men-at-arms.
