| ‘Red Sonja’ Film Adaptation Put On Hold Amid Bryan Singer Controversy
For reasons beyond my (or anyone’s for that matter) understanding, Millennium Films hired Bryan Singer to direct a film adaptation of the Red Sonja even though the filmmaker has a reputation for poor on-set behavior and has been surrounded by a myriad of sexual assault allegations. Though many have tried to take the pages of the comic book to the big screen, Singer’s hiring was as close as it got to getting the project off the ground. While the director has been quick to deny the sexual assault allegations, guilds and societies have made an effort to distance themselves from him. This includes the people behind the Oscar-nominated Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen biopic from which Singer was fired. Now it looks like enough is enough, as Millennium has put Red Sonja on hold. Bryan Singer is no stranger to scandals and poor on-set behavior, and yet, the guy still keeps getting offers to direct films. Singer was recently fired from Bohemian Rhapsody after reports of him walking off set started to surface. And despite his reported unprofessionalism, it looks like he is getting another chance to direct a film. New reports say that Singer has signed on to helm a big-screen adaptation of Red Sonja for Millennium. More on the story below.

Cover Price: $3.99 I love all things Conan. This is an indisputable fact, my friends will testify to it. That is, until this particular comic was delivered to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the Dark Horse led Conan/Red Sonja miniseries that preceded this Dynamite attempt. But Red Sonja/Conan #1 seemed…unnatural, for lack of a better word. Or maybe I’m critiquing it overmuch.
