Josh Gad and Billy Crystal created magic while high in a late-night convenience store and as a result missed an awards show where both were nominated. FX President Denis Grant (Denis O’Hare) is delaying the premiere. Billy sees the writing on the wall, especially when Kristen (Stephnie Weir) compares them to mold”¦ you know, in a positive way.

YES! It took three episodes, but The Comedians has nailed it. The same irreverent and ridiculous humor that made Curb your Enthusiasm a staple on HBO has now found a home on FX. All it took was projectile vomit, a giant bong, and a supermarket. Sorry, but for some crazy reason projectile vomit has always had me dying; I still remember being in tears during Team America: World Police.

Last week FX debuted The Comedians a documentary style comedy about the making of a new comedy sketch show: “The Billy & Josh Show” starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad. Only problem”¦ the stars cannot stand one another.

The second episode of the show, titled “Come to the House,” demonstrates how the two stars’ combative personalities are affecting those around them. Director Jamie (Steven Weber as a woman) seems to be struggling, while the head writer Mitch (Matt Oberg) can’t seem to get Esme (Megan Ferguson), the assistant, to understand her role”¦ as an assistant. When he suggests a coffee run, she responds, “YES, I’ll take a dirty chai!” Obviously she’s never seen The Devil Wears Prada.

Like most pilots, you can only hope you’re left with a desire to see where the show is going. Do you want to take the ride with these characters? After a bit of a bumpy start, yes I do.
