Dark Shadows

Yesterday saw the first tiny bit of footage from Tim Burton’s upcoming big-screen adaptation Dark Shadows.

Now, the full theatrical trailer has been released, and you can watch it here below.

Johnny Depp In Dark Shadows #1

Some images of Johnny Depp on the set of Tim Burton‘s adaptation of the ’60s Gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows, have shown up online.

In the show Depp plays the vampire Barnabas Collins, and, as you probably expected considering this is another Burton/Depp collaboration, the actor looks pretty wild and outrageous.

You can read a synopsis for the movie and check out more images of Depp as Barnabas by heading below now.

Whenever Tim Burton makes a movie, most expect Johnny Depp to be somehow involved. This is once again the case in Dark Shadows, the upcoming movie adaptation of the ’60s TV series where Depp is set to play the lead, Barnabas Collins.

The rest of the cast assembled so far is impressive, including Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green, and Bella Heathcote, and it looks like it’s about to get even better than that soon. It’s being reported that Michelle Pfeiffer is in talks to take on the role of Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, a powerful woman who has kept herself buried away in her mansion for ten years since the disappearance of her husband. This would of course reunite Pfeiffer with Burton after she played Catwoman for him in 1992’s Batman Returns.

Yes indeed, ladies and gentlemen, fans of the original Batman films can now run out and purchase the entire four-movie set on good ol’ Blu-ray.

Since Christopher Nolan took over and re-invented the way we see Batman cinematically, most have forgotten about these original films — some, understandably so. While these movies aren’t as highly-praised as the new ones, they do, and will always have a place in comic and superhero movie fans’ hearts.

First and most importantly, keep in mind that this new release is Blu-ray, so no matter how many times you’ve seen the movies, you haven’t seen them at this quality level. Love them or hate them, they do look really great in Blu.

I highly doubt there are people out there who aren’t familiar with these movies and what goes on in them, so instead, I’ll simply talk briefly on each one and why ultimately, it’s worth picking up this set.

The first and the best known of the bunch is the original — Batman. Batman was one of the first big comic book superheroes to successfully grace the silver screen. Since then, as you all know, comic book properties have exploded into money-making machines. Very few properties remain as just publications.
