In the last few minutes of the season two finale of The Walking Dead, Michonne saved Andrea from a couple of zombies by slashing them with a samurai sword, but we never got to see her face. Moments after the finale, it was announced that Danai Gurira (Treme) would be playing Michonne and since then, fans have been anxiously waiting to see her in action.

We all know that anything that is adapted for any screen will be changed or modified. So just how different the televised Michonne will be from her comic-book form is a mystery. The fact is, Michonne made her presence known. Below is what Robert Kirkman (the creator of the comic and executive producer of the TV adaptation) had to say about the character in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, which debuted this first photo.

The sword-wielding badass from The Walking Dead was revealed in the last minutes of the television show’s season two finale last Sunday, and while many comic book readers were celebrating, others were left scratching their heads at the site of a woman in a tattered hooded jacket, holding a sword and leading two zombies on chains. Granted, the debut of the character was an awesome sight, but fans who haven’t read the comics have no idea of the significance of the character. Enter Comixology.
