Oblivion Premiere header

On my way last week to the Black Sabbath listening party in Hollywood, there was a buzz in the air as the premiere of the new Tom Cruise scifi vehicle Oblivion, was getting ready for Tinseltown. The premiere took place at the Dolby Theatre (formerly known as the Kodak Theatre) on Hollywood Blvd between Highland Ave. and La Brea., which is pretty much the hub of all things entertainment in America.

As the following photos below will show, fans got an exclusive glimpse of the ship – which we talked to you about in our 2013 WonderCon coverage. Be sure to also check out our review of the film.

2077: Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last remaining drone repairmen stationed on Earth, which was nearly destroyed by an alien invasion 60 years earlier.

As part of a massive operation to extract the planet’s remaining vital resources, Jack lives in a Skytower floating thousands of meters above post-apocalyptic New York.

He is joined by Victoria “Vika” Olsen (Andrea Riseborough), a by-the-books navigator with whom he shares a romantic interest. In his Bubbleship – a futuristic hybrid of a jet fighter and a Bell 47 helicopter – Jack works with Vika to repair downed drones and dispatch “Scavs” – the aliens who turned Earth into a wasteland.

Their mission is almost complete. In two weeks Jack and Vika will leave Earth behind forever as they travel to Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. There they will join a lunar colony established by Earth’s survivors. The fateful arrival of a stranger (Olga Kurylenko), however, triggers a series of events that forces Jack to question everything he knows about the war and its aftermath.

Now You See Me Trailer Header

The one rule that magicians generally abide by is never to do the same trick twice. This requires some major creativity. So rather than saw a person in half or pull a rabbit out of a hat, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco have something better in mind to keep their audiences entertained. In Now You See Me, they will rob a bank from one of the world’s most wealthiest men and give it right back to the audiences who have been financially wronged. Think of it as Robin Hood with a hat full of tricks. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Mark Ruffalo also star.

The first trailer only teased the core plot, which was that they announced that part of the act was to steal from the rich. But this newest trailer gets into the backstory of the characters and some of the planning that went into this magical heist. Oh, let’s not forget there are also a few more magic acts.

Check out the newest trailer below.

Morgan Freeman, the legendary actor who can soon be seen starring alongside Tom Cruise in the sci-fi adventure flick Oblivion, has entered into final negotiations to join the cast of Transcendence.

Freeman joins star Johnny Depp, who will play a man who creates a computer program that develops an awareness. The movie also stars Paul Bettany, Kate Mara, and Rebecca Hall.

Oblivion Poster Header Image

Director Joseph Kosinski has never been one to employ traditional soundtracks on his films. His 2010 debut Tron: Legacy was scored by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk and their efforts were received so well that even those who disliked the movie couldn’t help but love the soundtrack, which sold over half a million copies after almost a year in release.

For the soundtrack to his latest film, the futuristic sci-adventure Oblivion starring Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman, Kosinski has retained the services of another French electronica outfit gaining in popularity across the globe, the quintet M83. Their original score for Oblivion is now available for sale on MP3 for only $5.

Listen to two selections from the album – “StarWaves” and the title track “Oblivion” featuring Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør – here below.
