Andy Serkis had many people screaming for him to be nominated for an Academy Award for his performance capture work as the creature Gollum in director Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. He also went on help Jackson bring to life the most realistic and personality-filled King Kong we’ve ever seen using the same performance capture techniques.

During an event recently, actor Mark Ruffalo shared some details on his Incredible Hulk character in Joss Whedon‘s upcoming comic book epic, The Avengers.

Ruffalo offered up a cool little reveal about what was being planned for his part, saying “I’m really excited. No one’s ever played the Hulk exactly, they’ve always done CGI. They’re going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I’ll actually play the Hulk. That’ll be fun.”

In Ang Lee’s 2003 take, Hulk, with Eric Bana, and in Louis Leterrier’s 2008 film, The Incredible Hulk, with Edward Norton, the lead actors played Bruce Banner while Hulk was computer animated. But now, with technology constantly evolving, it should come as no surprise that they’ve decided to use motion-capture techniques with this new version of the giant green superhero.

Well, that was not a rumor at all; it was in fact very much true, and the studio is officially moving forward with Maleficent.

Disney has re-acquired the talents of screenwriter Linda Woolverton, who just penned Alice in Wonderland for Burton, to begin work on a script for this new project. As stated, indications are that it will be similar to Wonderland with a live-action/motion capture/CGI style and a story that basically switches around the perspective of Sleeping Beauty from good to evil. Woolverton has also done work for Disney on titles like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Mulan.
