|
Mere months away from its world premiere, the cast and crew of Star Trek: Picard took to the stage at Madison Square Garden for New York Comic-Con to share tidbits about the show. Moderated by CBSN anchor and CBS News national correspondent Vladimir Duthiers, the discussion included Sir Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Isa Briones (Dahj), Santiago Cabrera (Cristobal “Chris” Rios), Michelle Hurd (Raffi Musiker), Alison Pill (Dr. Agnes Jurati), Harry Treadaway (Narek), and Evan Evagora (Elnor), as well as executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, and Heather Kadin, co-executive producer and director Hanelle Culpepper and supervising producer Kirsten Beyer. It was certainly an exhilarating atmosphere in MSG’s Hulu Theater, especially when Stewart stepped onto the stage and was greeted by a standing ovation. The crowd’s excitement only enhanced when he announced that New York Comic-Con fans would be the first to view the “quite unseen” second trailer for Picard. New York Comic-Con (NYCC) returned to the Jacob Javits Convention Center in midtown Manhattan on Thursday and provided a perfect venue for a screening of the second episode of Shudder’s new Creepshow series. Based on the 1982 horror anthology, the collaboration between George A. Romero and Stephen King was done in comic book form, with panels and the Creeper there to guide the way between stories. The new streaming series premiered on Shudder last Thursday and features six episodes with two horror stories in each, ending appropriately enough, on Halloween.

| NYCC 2018 Interview: ‘Prospect’ Star Sophie Thatcher, Writers Chris Caldwell & Zeek Earl
New York Comic-Con wrapped up on October 7th and ended a crazy four days at the Javits Convention Center in NYC. My last press roundtable of that weekend was for the upcoming science fiction film Prospect, which stars Jay Duplass (Transparent), Pedro Pascal (Game Of Thrones), and Sophie Thatcher, who makes her feature-film debut here. The film, which had its premiere in March at the SXSW Film Festival, was written and directed by Chris Caldwell and Zeek Earl, and is a feature-length version of their 2014 short. It will be released on November 2, 2018 in Regal theaters, which will be offering an exclusive art print by Christopher Shy, as well as an exclusive download of the film’s accompanying Playbill, Aurelac Prospecting: Guide To Getting Rich On The Green Moon, that delves into the film’s world-building.
