This morning’s announcement of the nominations for the 2017 Oscars had its snubs and its surprises.

Everyone has their “why did this get nominated but that didn’t” or the “that was the worst film ever, and it got nominated!” But it is something that just comes with the territory. So here are my 5 Biggest Snubs and Surprises.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced the full list of nominees for the 89th Annual Academy Awards ceremony, which will be held just a little over a month from now on February 26th with Jimmy Kimmel hosting.

How many nominations did awards season favorites like La La Land, Moonlight, and Manchester by the Sea get? Who was snubbed out of a nomination? And most importantly of all, did Deadpool actually score a freakin’ Oscar nomination after those surprise Golden Globe noms?

It’s not too soon to talk about potential Oscar nominees, and the Academy has already named a few people who have contributed their talents to entertainment who will be getting lifetime achievement awards. A lot of the time these honorary awards go to people we rarely hear about. But come next year, the Academy will give out four lifetime achievement awards, one of which to go to actor and legendary stuntman Jackie Chan.
