‘Star Trek: Discovery’: New Details Revealed Including Female Lead, Gay Character, Setting
A few weeks ago the first details on that new Star Trek series that will be shown on CBS’s new streaming service All Access were revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, including the title, Star Trek: Discovery.
Today at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer Bryan Fuller discussed the show in further detail with reporters, revealing that Discovery will have a female lead character who will be a lieutenant commander instead of a captain. The reasoning behind this decision, in the words of The Hollywood Reporter’s Lesley Goldberg, was to allow the series “to explore stories from a different point of view.”

Can You Dig It? ‘Captain America: Civil War’s The Russo Brothers To Adapt ‘The Warriors’ For TV
If you are not a fan of big budget remakes, then you are not alone. Most remakes if not all of them are considered to be poor contemporary reflections of the original source material. And it doesn’t get any better when a classic film gets reinvented for a TV series.
However, there are a few that manage to shine, and news of the Russo brothers remaking the cult classic The Warriors might be just one of those. A new report says that the Captain America: Civil War sibling directors are going to be working with Paramount Television and Hulu to reimagine the gang film as a series. More on the story below.

Neil Patrick Harris To Play Count Olaf In Netflix’s ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’
Another bit of recent news you might have missed relates to A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Netflix series that’s based on Lemony Snicket‘s A Series of Unfortunate Events book series.
It’s being reported that Neil Patrick Harris, star of How I Met Your Mother, Gone Girl, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Starship Troopers, and Doogie Howser, M.D., has entered into negotiations to take on the role of Count Olaf, the villainous uncle of siblings Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire who gains custody of the children after their parents perish in a fire and is only interested in stealing their inherited fortune. Jim Carrey previously played the role in the movie adaptation of the same name.

‘Galaxy Quest’ TV Series Coming To Amazon
The TV show based on the science fiction comedy cult classic Galaxy Quest has found itself a home. Being backed by Paramount Television since this past April, it’s being reported that a deal has been reached with Amazon Studios, where it’s now in early series development.
The talent behind making the movie—at least behind the camera—are also involved in the TV series. Director Dean Parisot is set to direct at least some of the episodes, and screenwriter Robert Gordon will write the script for the TV show as well. They’ll also be executive producers along with Mark Johnson, who had the same role on the movie, and Melissa Bernstein.

Paramount Developing ‘Galaxy Quest’ TV Series
If your true passion in life is seeing popular movies get turned into TV series, you’re a happy person these days. And there’s some more good news for you: it’s now being reported that Paramount Television is developing a TV series based on DreamWorks’ 1999 cult sci-fi comedy classic Galaxy Quest.
This is another in a long line of movies that have either already been adapted into a TV series recently or are currently being developed into a TV series, including From Dusk Till Dawn, Silence of the Lambs, Psycho, Teen Wolf, Rosemary’s Baby, Scream, The Evil Dead, Problem Child, Friday the 13th, and many more.
